Test for autism.

I have suspect although probably through fear, never explored it more, that I'm on the spectrum. I'm quite socially awkward, sometimes I cant physically talk to people, I make stupid mistakes, I get too focused on details. My DD has suspected autism.

Would it be worthwhile at 31 to have the test?

Watching with interest.

I feel the same and also have a DC who is autistic and a toddler who I'm convinced is autistic, too.

Hi, I'll be watching with interest too as I strongly suspect that I am on the spectrum. My youngest son has ASD, my diagnosis is bipolar.

I'm 37, by the way.

My DD exhibits the same behaviour now as I did. I'm starting to think I've been like this for 31 years and only since I had DD that it actually is making sense.

I also really dislike answering the phone and talking to strangers on it.

I've been wondering about this again recently - always felt an 'affinity' with Autistic Spectrum traits that I read about, but always dismissed as I don't tick 'enough' boxes on most tests.

But I tick every single thing on that link above.

It is making me feel really sad, and I'm not quite sure why.

I am pretty sure I won't go after any 'official' diagnosis, as having spent 33 years trying to solve the problem of me, I have got quite good at coping with stuff, and I think the me who really needed help is way in the past. Plus I have a lovely therapist now, who I started seeing for other reasons. (I spend about half of every session in silence, waiting for the words to percolate themselves up and form themselves properly. Grin).

I mean Table 1 on that link btw

Sadly, I think alot of them apply to me.

That is scarily like me! It even mentions that females often get misdiagnosed with bipolar or it is a comorbid. I'm going to bring it up with my cpn next time she visits.
