Hi all.

I've just been prescribed sertraline by my GP. I've recently had my first DC- he's 6 months old.

I'm being treated for depression and severe anxiety, and referred to the perinatal mental health team (not sure what to expect there, as I have absolutely no issues with my son, my depression stems from issues before I had him).

Anyway, I've been taking it for 3 days now and ive had dizzy spells, and today I have been so drowsy I was falling asleep at 2pm. Is this normal? Has anyone else had experience of sertraline before and will these symptoms go away?

Thanks in advance

Hi Collie, I was on Sertraline a few years ago and experienced exactly the same as you in the first few days. Stick with it - it was fantastic for me!

Hi Collie - I started taking Sertraline last April for awful anxiety and they have really helped me. I did feel quite out of it and pretty rough at the start though, I think that's pretty normal with starting ADs.

So definitely stick with it - and if you fancy a bit if support come over to our Sertraline Buddies thread Smile

Thanks! Good to know I'm not alone. Currently experiencing insomnia which is infuriating as I am so tired - think I will pop over to that thread now chuffchuff

I've just started taking it as well....my GP has switched me from Amitriptyline to Sertraline and I feel very odd and annoying I can't sleep.

I take it before bed, wondering if I should switch to the mornings at all.

Betty - when I took Sertraline, I used to take it in the morning; sometimes I'd forget and take it in the evening - I'd always be wide awake on those occasions! I think it gives too much of a boost to the system?!
