My GP prescribed me cipralex on Friday, and this afternoon I plucked up the courage to take one, and have felt dreadful ever since - really nauseous, like bad morning sickness.
At the moment, I'm not planning on taking any more (have a nearly 5mo and a 3yo, and can't feel this crappy AND look after them) and will just wait for my counselling.
Just wondering whether it's common to feel ill for so long, or if this AD doesn't agree with me.

thanks for the quick replies, every minute can feel like a lifetime at the moment ! I know that sounds mad and in my normal state it would be totally not like that but I am definitly not functioning normally at the moment, i think I should have gone to the docs a few weeks back when I noticed my thoughts were starting to jumble, it was all triggered by a particularly nasty row with dh and I then had a huge panic attack whilst driving, Ive since then virtually stopped driving which has made things seem more desparate,a dn its sort of snowballed from there. I have ordered a CBT book mentioned on this site and when I see my GP in ten days as requested by him I will ask about CBT as there is so much negative thoughts in my head about myself. I hope I can cope, I hate feeling 'its' going to get me and I wont be able to look after my dd 3 who has been plonked in front of TV most of today whilst I panic away, she has nursery tomorrow morning so even tho I dont want to take her it will be good for her. Im dreading being alone tho and yet I dread looking after her ! So there we are !! I need to take these tablets dont I ? as these are not thoughts I usually have, I hope they help soon

i think the CBT books, tablets and hopefully some sessions of CBT will really help, you know this isn't right and you are addressing it..let us know how you get on..x

I know its hard but maybe you could just drive round the block, just to say you have done it and to get it out of the way. They call it a 'convincer' in psychology don't they? I keep going out of the house and trying to get further. I even had 2 trips to sainsbury's yesterday. 2nd wasn't very nice but I still did it.

is cipralex the same as escitalopram?? if it is, i have been taking them for 3 weeks now and at first i had terrible nausea, a bit like early pregnancy nausea. i had terrible headaches, which i still have now and again, although stress has a lot to do with that. on the whole, the tabs aren't too bad and i feel better on them than without.
what mg were u prescribed. i'm on 10mg

breakfastfairy - I dont know if you have read all this thread but sometimes it can be better to take it on an evening if any of the side effects trouble you. They are transient though, so dont let them but you off unless you feel like you cant function properly. If this is ever the case, dont panic, you can always try a different drug.

madmarchhare · 20/11/2006 15:09

put you off

breakfastfairy · 20/11/2006 15:17

thanks for that madmarchhare, I am trying to focus on the longer term ie in a couple of weeks i hope to feel better, I think this time I felt I have no choice as my own methods, and I think I tried all the right things, cinema with friend, visit to friends house, buying a treat, reading self help books just wasnt working, it seems like ive just had enough of trying to cope IYSWIM, I have thought myself better for days, weeks and my brain feels like its reached meltdown, I cant do this rubbish life anymore, but saying that it wasnt like this a few months back so it really must be an illness and perhaps I really have to accept the medical help

breakfastfairy · 20/11/2006 15:19

Yes I think Ive convinced myself Im doing the right thing now ! Its just scary feeling that you will lose control, perhaps even not be able to look after my child thats really scary and who the hell can you tell that to !
