Just off to pick up a month's course of it. Dr has prescribed it as I have been getting very down following reconsructive surgery on my peineum following a botched episiotomy and tear, still suffering with problems from scar tissue and just cry everytime i think about it all. Never had any anti-depressants before ad bit daunted by whole idea - just wondered if anyone else was taking/had taken Cipramil and could give me any idea about what to expect? THanks

Is Cipramil the same as Citalopram?

Just googled cipramil and says it contains citalopram hydrobromide so maybe.

I have taken cypramil before.Same as citaloprim (?sp).
Its supposed to take a few weeks to work but i def. felt better the next day !
I was much more relaxed and coped with everyday things which i had found very daunting prior to taking the med.
Initial side effects for me where-couldnt feel my let down reflex when breastfeeding and panicked. It just went.Only lasted a couple of weeks and didnt affect milk supply.
Couldnt orgasm - again not a problem after a couple of weeks but any sex drive i had left anyway went out the window while i was on them. Def. improved my quality of life as wasnt enjoying my new baby .IMO much more important to have happy mum and babe and family ect. As my friend once said to me you dont get a gold star for not accepting help !
Good luck and hope you feel better.

I took Cipramil for 6 months after being diagnosed woth PND. Not sure if I really had it or was just being pathetic but during the six months on cipramil I was never off sick, did a distance learning course, lost 20lbs and finally my DP of 6 years proposed. The bads bits were, faking orgasims, and coming off it - took 4 weeks of dizziness before I felt ok after stopping . Definately worked for me. But everyine is an individual. Good luck with your choice.

I have been on Cipralex, which is a very similar drug. Give it a go, but be prepared for some initial reactions like nausea and/or loose tummy. It is a good drug and will hopefully get you through this bad patch...

I was on Cipramil/Citrolpram for the last 5 years and I thought they were fab! I was scared that they would numb me to much but I felt in control of my senses and calm in crisis (I had a few to test it - I had PND and Breast Cancer and my mum of 55 died so I know they work)

I have now come off them with no ill effects (I did it slowly)
