Anyone tried it? Am I going to get huge?

Well, this is foul. Sick, dizzy, slurring, neck hurts, back hurts, head hurts, can't see properly, still feel depressed, and horribly anxious that I'm instantly going to put back on all of the seven stone I've just spent a year losing.

I'd call NHS 111. That doesn't sound normal at all... I'd bet that it's either psychological, because you're so worried about taking it, or you've had an allergic reaction.

One dose would be no where near strong enough to give you those side effects so soon.

EnpoTree · 08/11/2014 12:26

No it's probably psychological. I'm very, very anxious.

TBH I would love any reason to not have to take it. I'm a bit of a drug refuser (hate side effects, and scared of dependence) and I think this is their solution to my refusing to take antipsychotics or benzos. My brain may be manufacturing side effects for me. They feel real though.

It's okay though, honestly. There has been a lot of studies into weight gain on it, and all of them concluded that people tend to overeat on this type of medication, and it's nothing to do with the drug itself. If you've lost 7 stone, you must have good willpower!

Can you distract yourself doing something today?

I used to refuse anxiety meds too. Eventually I had literally no choice. I take them every morning now, and function normally. It's lovely not to worry about absolutely everything, not to feel upset at the smallest thing. I can even miss a few doses and it's fine.

Give it a fair shot. It's so worth it.

I'll give it a go. Thanks for the reassurance FlowersSmile

At least it seems to have decidedly dealt with my constipation problem. Repeatedly.

The thing is, my willpower is pretty poor when I'm depressed and on medications, hence putting on the seven stone in the first place (mostly while taking olanzapine and depakote - it all went on really quite quickly). Hence the anxiety about weight gain.

Weird effect: pulse is dropping quite low. 44 currently Hmm No wonder I feel dizzy.

Seems to be wavering between mid forties and mid fifties, which is about 10 BPM slower than usual. How odd. It's not listed as a side effect, and not something I would expect as a psychosomatic symptom.

hello. I found it had a more relaxing effect than the ssnri (venlafaxine). sometimes though I worry if I get too relaxed! yes I did get huge, but that may be the quetiapine, or both. I have to watch my calories. good luck

EnpoTree · 08/11/2014 13:15

Thanks mypip.

Quetiapine is terrible for weight gain. I was tried on it as a teenager but taken off it quite quickly as it pushed my blood sugar up. Then I got huge and diabetic from the olanzapine and consequent overeating anyway Grin So you could be right about your weight gain being caused by the quetiapine rather than the pregabalin I guess.
