Sick leave for mental health reasons

I've been off work with stress/depression for three weeks, before that I was on holiday for two and a half weeks, although I worked half day Saturdays (because no one else wanted to). I don't feel ready to go back yet, I'm still struggling to get out of bed to be honest.

I don't hate my job, but my manager is very difficult, I don't really want to go back at all for that reason Sad However, dh is out of work and we need the (small amount of) money.

My income has been affecting how much jsa dh was getting, hopefully whilst I am on SSP they will increase it, but we don't know, dh had to submit a reassessment form.

Part of the anxiety is due to our financial situation, but the depression is an ongoing thing.

Can my employers sack me for staying off so long? I haven't spoken to them, dh has been taking in my sick notes.

I'm worrying about it so much, I should probably just go back Sad or resign. I imagine though that if I resign we will not be entitled to any jsa.

Anyone been in this situation?

Don't resign. Always a bad idea if you haven't got a Plan B job lined up as benefits people will be vile about it if you need to claim.

I'm not in a union, I've never been in one, I don't have the sort of job where anyone is in union. I can't afford to pay them!
