Hi guys ,I've posted a few times on here previously about my own depression / anxiety after my two children and just wanted to let you guys know how it's going now.
I've tried numerous things to get things under control (CBT ,Citraloram etc...). Whilst they did help i didn't want to rely on antidepressants unless absolutely necessary. Anyway ,I recently read about Vitamin D and depression and how too low amounts can affect your moods significantly. I don't have severe depression ,mine was just a case of wondering mind ,rumination ,dwelling which resulted in not being able to concentrate on anything and finding pleasure in very little. I'm a month in and can honestly say that my mood has increased ,still get my moments but not as bad as it was. I'm on 100mcg a day of Vitamin D3 (you can't overdose on Vitamin D) ,but you've got to make sure it's D3 ,the sort that comes from the sun ,not the vitamin D that's added to milk and yoghurt as your body can actually do very little with this sort.

Of course ,it's not for everyone ,it's something that I read in the book the Depression Cure and thought I'd give it a try. It takes a few weeks to kick in if it's going to work but if you're the sort that feels their mood increase when the suns shining then there's a good change it'll work :)

That's really interesting and I'm glad you're seeing an improvement. Where do you get your vit D3 supplements?

I use vitabiotics ultra vitamin D optimum level. You can get from any supermarket ,in Asda they're usually 3 packs for £10 :)

Thanks, I'll take a look. I think at times I could do with some help and this might be a good start.

Definitely recommend "the depression cure " book ,as it covers the basic causes of depression before you move onto anti D's CBT etc... I.e sleep ,social stimulation ,exercise ,vitamin d and omega 3. Im also taking seven seas omega 3 extra high strength (supposed to aim for 1000mg of EPA and DHA = 10 ml's) ,been on it for about 3 / 4 months and whilst I don't think I've noticed a difference I've stuck to it as it's good for you ,anyway :)
