It did help me, many years ago when I was depressed. Having said that, my work environment was a big factor in my depression. Was nice to start again - new colleagues (who were much nicer) and around the same time I started studying too, which also helped.

I am looking for new job but afraid to pick up something just for the sake of a change rather than an informative, reasonable choice...did it CURE your depression?

The answer to that question is that it depends. Is your job contributing to your depression? Can you handle the stress of starting a new job, which could possibly make the depression worse? Depression can have biological and/or psychological causes. It's worth going to your gp for a thorough physical checkup to rule out causes like e.g. thyroid problems. You can also ask to be referred for talk therapy to help you deal with the depression.

Do you work full-time? Long commute? Struggle with managing children/family/home work? Is your job stressful? Do you like the people you work with?

All sorts of questions and answers can affect your decision.

For me the answer was reducing responsibility and hours but we are all different.

I think I have worked here for about 9 years and the work became stale... also I do feel stimulated, important. I think I would prefer additional responsibilities, so that I get noticed, spoken to etc...I feel I would rather increase my responsibilities rather than decrease...
