CBT books

Can anyone recommend a good intro to CBT? I was referred last year but the session took soong coming that I had moved out of the area by then.

I want to address low self esteem, anger, negative thinking about relationships ... I can think of other things that make me hard to be around, but that's a start. Obviously there are lots on Amazon but I'd rather make sure I go for a good one.

Thanks Smile

Cognitive behaviour therapy for dummies by Rhena Branch and Rob Willson, and Congnitive Behaviour workbook for dummies, by the same authors.

These are good booklets: www.ntw.nhs.uk/pic/selfhelp/

And the overcoming series is evidence-based and written by experts on the specific subjects: www.overcoming.co.uk/single.htm?ipg=7668

I know a couple of years ago in some areas GPs were prescribing the "overcoming" series of books for several months from a library, I think it was the local library, I can't really remember. I know it was for six months and in my case my GP kept track of whether it was helping or not. I don't know if that scheme is still in place (likely not) but the fact they were prescribed says a lot about the series in terms of how professionals viewed them.

The ones I used weren't what I expected, a lot of the things suggested I was already doing, but there were things I found helpful.
