I've read several people saying on here that colouring in can be good when your mind is troubled or racing. I like the idea of resurrecting this childhood hobby.

What do you use to colour, if you do?

The only trouble is that due to a physical problem I don't have very strong hands/fingers and they can get a bit stiff or swollen using pens/pencils. This is difficult with colouring because you sometimes have to press quite hard.

Can anyone recommend any colouring implements that produce a nice effect but that don't require a lot of pressure?

Thank you and best wishes to everyone here today.

Nice idea :) I should go back to it myself instead of obsessively mumsnetting!

If you're quite arty, you might like oil pastels. They're sticks, and you can achieve an amazing range of effects by blending, smudging, diluting, overlaying & engraving them. Stick pastels are usually about an inch thick, maybe a bit less.

Crayola Beginnings have lovely fat wax crayons, coloured pencils and marker pens.

You can even get metallic poster paint sticks, glitter sticks, and of course chalk :)

Most of the big suppliers make triangular crayons which might help with your grip, depending on your needs.

Enjoy your creativity!

My dd uses Lyra Ferby pencils as they are highly pigmented so you don't have to press down hard. They are the thicker kind too so they might be good.

Thank you so much both of you. I'll be off to look for a colouring book Smile
