want to focus on my job/ career progression as a way to get out of depression - will it work? I am scared of emptiness/ no structure to my day ( feel lost and disconnected)

Sorry you're feeling lost and disconnected.

Are you working already, or thinking about finding work?

Also, I think there is research showing that working is generally beneficial for mental health and wellbeing (although not when you have the week that I had last week...).

Working is a great way to keep busy but jobs come and go. If you become too attached to a job, what of the business closes? Or your worst enemy becomes your boss?

Try a several prong approach. Maybe do a course, new hobby, make an effort to get out with friends/family, gardening is also good.

I think it's a great idea. What kind of work are you in?

Having a structure for the day is great ( and for me the only positive of being in a psych hospital as it was ruled by meals, smoking trips outside for smokers, med rounds - nothing else!). Work gives me that too. Plus money to make life easier. Plus some value or worth. And holidays from work have much more value as a change from routine!

Good luck

I agree - structure is great, as when you do have time off, its more of a treat than 'what do I do now?'. Also good to have targets and goals.

What else do you do? Or is there anything you'd like to do?

Think a great idea, do so myself.
