As per the title. Does anyone know if anti psychotics are easy to od on? Family member found dead, schizophrenic on a treatment order. Awaiting pm results but toxicity report inconclusive thus far and can't get hold of his mh team to find out what he was on or if he had taken too many. Thank you.

I think it depends what he was on but 'yes' I think it's highly likely he could have over dosed Sad. So sorry for your loss, my step son is being accessed for schizophrenia and has psychotic episodes, it's so painful for us to see and I can't imagine what it must be like for him, his meds are given by injection so he gets the correct dosage as can't be trusted to take the correct dose himself Sad.

My sympathies on such a sad loss.
I am not a medic but have had recent contact with someone who knows about these issues and they were dealing with this exact scenario - I understand from them (a doc) that yes, they are quite toxic. But it depends on lots of things - dose, quantity, body weight, alcohol intake, other meds, etc.
The tox results will hopefully detail the amount and strength of the overdose. It may take weeks but I hope this has been explained to you.
Wishing you strength.

It depends on various factors eg how many were taken, if they were combined with anything else eg drugs, alcohol. What brand they were with regards to different chemicals in the tablets ect.

Thank you. He was on clozapine and we have to wait for further tox results, he was 37 and only 5ft 4 but weighed 19 stone - autopsy showed nothing wrong with his organs. Guess we'll have to wait to know more, hoping to hear from his mental health team this week.
