Would you recommend any private facilities?

I'm a mn regular but don't usually post on this board, and I'm posting on behalf of a friend. I absolutely realise I'm only posting from one pov on here and I realise there is tonnes of nuance I'm missing because of that, but I would appreciate any advice.

My friend's DH has serious MH problems, including self harm and psychotic episodes. He's been fairly seriously medicated over the last couple of years but a combination of the usual poor community services plus his failure to engage with the support he has been offered has meant that while he's been stable, he hasn't really progressed.

Last week he attempted suicide, which was triggered by a disciplinary matter at work. He's been drinking fairly regularly (is also an alcoholic) and also buying street drugs (valium).

Their marriage is more or less at breaking point and my friend seriously considered not having him released back into her care (he was only in hospital overnight after his suicide attempt).

My question is, are there any private centres, hospitals or facilities you would recommend? They are skint, but she can borrow money if necessary. She sees this as a last-ditch attempt to help him engage with his therapy, develop coping mechanisms and move forward. Her initial thought was some intensive kind of cbt, but obviously open to suggestions.

As I said, I do realise that it's not hugely on to post about someone else here, I have changed identifiable details and hope you can understand that there are two people here in a desperate situation whom I'd like to help. Obviously he wouldn't be compelled to go through any treatment!

Thanks

The Priory is supposedly the best:

www.priorygroup.com/

As recommended by Ruby Wax, Antonio Carluccio et al. You could ask Antonio about it on his webchat...

You say that she can borrow some money to pay for private treatment. Are you aware of the charges as an inpatient at a private hospital? In london this costs about £4000 a week. As a full day patient it costs about £2500 per week. Where in the country are you?

Capio Nightingale in North London is very good but about £5k per week and probably in for a month. It is a huge financial commitment without health insurance. PM me if I can give you more info.

Thanks for responses. We are in Scotland and her mother has access to funds. Obviously it won't be done lightly but desperate times Sad
