Changing the time of Fluxotine (dont want to OD)

Im 10 days into taking fluxotine for depression and anxiety and it seems to really be helping, despite some side effects ups and downs etc. When i first got my prescription i was desperate to start them so started taking them that evening, however for various reasons i would prefer to start taking them in the morning, as suggested is the best time. How would i go about doing this? Would I double up by taking one in the evening and then one in the morning, or miss a dose by just taking it in the morning. Any advice would be appreciated, i really dont want to mess up the good theyve been doing by missing a dose but in the long run it is much more convinient and beneficial for me to take them in the morning. Am on 20mg if that is relevant.

As people can be prescribed 40mg by taking one at night and one next morning you would not be at risk of an OD if that helps. Or missing a dose as you say is the other option.

Ok thanks silverstars. My dr said i could increase the dose if i wanted but not until id be on them for two weeks. I know its almost two weeks so it probably wouldnt matter to double dose once would it? Id rather do that than miss one ideally.

Is it a tablet that you can split in 2? Then take half in the evening and half the next morning.

Hi lasting light, unfortunately not. It's one of those ones with the gelatine covers on so probably can't be split. Thanks anyway, would be good advice if it could be.

Think I'm just guna gradually switch the time by taking it an hour earlier each day. I think this seems sensible. Hope I'm not making a big mistake!

I think you are making it a bit to complicated. Take your pill at midday instead of in the evening, the next one mid morning, and from then on in the mornings.

What lasting light said! Always better to take mornings as can disrupt sleep if taken at night so good long term plan :)

Thanks guys, I probably am being over cautious (anxiety about side effects!). Taken todays two hours early, I'll take tomorrows at midday and the one after that in the morning. Thanks for all the good advice, I feel a bit calmer about the switch now. Smile

Great! I'm a mental health nurse and would suggest exactly what you're doing for my patients - good luck :)

Cheers under the pink. Great to have an expert opinion, very reassuring. I get anxious but didn't want to bother the dr just changing the time of the pill seeing as its not otherwise been a problem

It's really understandable to be anxious but also your GP is there to monitor these meds so you shouldn't worry about bothering him/her :) Really hope they help you once you've established a good routine, as you're coming up for two weeks you should start noticing some of the major benefits (rather than just side effects) soon (though pleased to hear they are already helping to an extent!)
