panic attacks - any advice?

There's a lot happening to me at the moment - relationship breakdown, moving to a new house in a new city, gave up work. And i know i'm struggling to manage with it all. The thing thats brought me crashing down is the new house i've just rented, i think it might have damp issues and i'm now worrying about having all my furniture and clothes smelling of damp. Its put me in an absolute panic - i'm moving in on Mon but instead of being excited i've started to dread it. Also scared of living on my own again. I've got to use to the conforts of the parental home, where i've been living after relationship breakdown. Today i had massive panic attack. Does anyone have any tips on dealing with a PA.

(i'm in counselling and taking St Johns Wort - was prescribed Citroplan but had a rare side effect).

Using breathing techniques is helpful. When panicking breathe in for 4 second, hold for 4 seconds and breathe our for 4 and repeat. There are apps that will help you do this too.

I do the breathing thing too , in through my nose out through my mouth , try to imagine peace and niceness in my head . If it's rented the landlord shoud be sorting the damp ?

Thanks for your suggestions i'll try to focus my breathing.

I am going to ask the estate agency if they'll look into it. Am hoping that a dehumidifier and keeping the windows open will help. But am now having anxiety about talking to the agent about them paying for a dehumidifier.

...And then there's a strange smell in the kitchen behind the washing machine. Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhh.

Breath. Also remember that panic attacks are just feelings and can not hurt you, no matter how bad they feel.

if your having a panic attack shallow breathing is recommended as deep breaths are going to increase your blood oxygen levels which can exacerbate the symptoms. A bit like adding fuel to the fire!

thats why breathing into a paper helps, as it reduces oxygenated blood, thats not recommended any more though.
