This will probably sound crazy but I miss them. It seems so quiet and lonely. I started hearing voices as a young teenager and gradually getting worse till it was picked up nearly ten years later.

I had a friendly voice I called Bob and he used to help me when I was upset or angry I miss him the most. I spent half my life hearing voices and now they have gone its hard. Do people think I'm insane?

I can't even pinpoint when the voices started it was so long ago I only know I was less than 13 as I had my first major episode then.

Also all the voices I hear are male even though I'm female what about others?

no, they are familiar, your norm...maybe it's like having an ever present slightly dysfunctional family with you. However not having them is normal and healthy!

I hope you can feel happy just being yourself.

It sounds very normal to miss something that has been with you for so long. I'm so glad for you, though, that you are healthy enough now that you didn't need the voices to talk for you. All the stuff that those voices said comes from you, so all the caring and friendliness is still there, you just can't 'hear' it so much right now. Sending hugs x

I don't think your insane.

Have you been taking medication which has controlled the voices you hear?

I managed a residential home for people with schizophrenia for a few years who generally had their 'voices' under control by meds.

When was the last time you heard from Bob?

You heard from him when you were upset and angry. Perhaps your life is on a more even keel nowadays, and you no longer deal with such feelings, therefore the voice no longer appears?

Yes I am medicated now it's been a few months since I heard from Bob and then it was only when something major happened. Somehow it's hard to think of the voices as me, I know logically they were but it doesn't feel that way.

I think that when a voice has been a part of you for a long time, not hearing it can sometimes cause feelings of loneliness.

The fact that you heard from Bob when something major happened, and now no longer do,to me is a good thing.

It perhaps indicates less stress or drama is occuring in your day to day life than before, though I do understand that you miss what was once so familiar.
