Feel a bit weird about the Back To Work interview I had today

Basically my manager asked me a load of questions and then said that she had read text messages I had sent to a colleague (who had asked me if i was okay) and that they had decided that I had been mentally unwell for some time and had lied to them on my application form for the job. This is totally untrue I have only recently got formal help and I have been quite honest with them.

But I feel really weird about that. That this person has text me (twice actually) while I am on sick leave asking me if i am okay and has then taken my answer and showed it to my boss, surely that is not usual behaviour?

No, that's not usual. It's certainly not the normal actions of someone that could be considered a friend.

I feel I have to be on my guard with her now, like they were trying to divulge information about me.

Feel really weird about it (not good for paranoia)

Ditch the friend. Nobody needs that sort of 'support'.

Geckos48 · 31/10/2013 22:35

Oh I wont be involving her in anything else in my life. I just wondered if that was acceptable (or even legal) practise for a company?

can you ask her why on earth she showed the messages to your boss?

Geckos48 · 31/10/2013 22:39

Yes I am considering doing that but surely she will just show those messages to my boss?

I am sure there is some law about it?

You can't contact people like that under false pretences?

as a friend she shouldn´t do that.
from company´s perspective; sneaking around like that is not ok I think.
there must be some regulations about that, you can put this thread to legal advices topic as well, maybe you can get some more legal advices there.

very dodgy

HoopHopes · 31/10/2013 23:47

Sounds an unprofessional set of questions from the person doing the interview - suggesting you would be discriminated against from having the job of you had MH issues.

Do you have a good occupational health department you could seek advice from on work?

I am meeting the CMHT today so I might bring it up with them.

I just found it really, really strange.
