dd is so ill today and can't even keep water down. Started sunday night but she was better yesterday, eating and everything but today is terrible. Have spent half the morning cleaning up....she is finally sleeping now

Freaking out terribly, I have bad emetophobia and I am SO SCARED - how can I not catch it after being vomited on and cuddling. I so don't want to pass this fear onto her, it is like a curse. I am cuddling her and telling her it's ok but I can't eat, I have hardly eaten for 3 days, I am terrified.

Please, anyone who's around I need someone to calm me down.

I know - i think he owes you, now, BB!

The news is good re his symptoms, you have done all you can hygeine wise, and it sounds as if you're going to be ok. Hold on tight to that if you can.

Have you called the Samaritans before when you have felt like this? It sounds a good idea.

Another one here who doesn't like sick!
Wash your hands with soap regually & use anti bacterial wipes to wipe door handles etc. This really helps!
My entire family came down with a very violent D&V bug just before Christmas & I was the only one who didn't catch it, despite being the main vomit washer! There were also 13 members of staff off with it at the time, & I swear it was down to my strict handwashing.

Blu · 27/07/2006 22:57

And stop talking about people being ill - there's nothing more likely to make me feel ill than thinking of other people being sick!

I have a friend who has a severe form of this phobia & it got so bad that she went to her gp about it. She is now on a waiting list for some therepy to help her cope with it.
If it is distressing you a lot, it may be an idea to go along to your gp & see what is available.
In the meantime, keep washing your hands & have a bottle of pepto-bismol at the ready, just incase you feel quesy - it's great stuff!

I wouldn't panic & assume this is a bug, BB. My H got very sick on our last holiday because of heat stroke & from what you describe it sounds like it could well be something like that, or maybe he ate something dodgy.
How is he today?
It sounds like you have done everything possible to cover yourself incase it is a bug, but if he fancied milk & a fag last night, it sounds quite unlikely!
Hope you manage to relax a little more today.x

Try not to worry yourself too much, BB (easier said than done, I know!), there could be many reasons for his stomach upset. It may not be a bug at all.
Don't panic if you do get stomach ache either, because it will more than likely be due to anxiety. I always get a bad stomach when anxious or stressed!
Glad to hear he is feeling better anyway & fingers crossed that the rest of you will be fine. It certainly sounds like you have done everything in your power to prevent the spread of germs!

Lemmingswife · 28/07/2006 22:41

Is all ok, BB?

Glad to hear things are better & that you are feeling calmer.
There was a thread for vomit phobics a while back, there certainly seems to be lots on MN!
I used to be terrible, but after having children & being married to a useless squemish bloke, have toughened up quite a lot!

Lemmingswife · 28/07/2006 23:06

The first time my DS1 caught a D&V bug I had really sore hands as a result of over washing etc!

Nightmare! Still, at least you will be free of any bugs!
I went to the chemist when my family were infected before Christmas & asked for something for my husbands D&V. They said it was best to leave it & let it all out etc. I actually wanted something for myself incase I caught it, so thought "balls to that" & went to another chemist & said "Can I have some pepto-bismol please!"
I swigged some that night just in case, but was actually ok in the end!
