Am I autistic?

A lady (in a very bitchy way) accused me of being autistic a few months ago and it's played on my mind since.

I don't feel comfortable going to the GP as it would see like such an odd thing to say.

How would I know? Are there any signs/symptoms? Wouldn't this have been picked up when I was a child?

Autism is a massive spectrum so you could well be autistic and it have no obvious symptoms and have no impact on your life.

Tell the bitchy woman who called you Autistic that she stinks of shit.
Carry on with life.

Don't worry about the GP you won't need pills or anything.

It's not something I would profess to know a lot about, so I can't tell if I identify with any of the characteristics.

Yes, she was being a bitch. Her reasoning was I must be autistic because I didn't like on type of vegetable but liked another Hmm but, it still stuck in my mind.

Well that's just ridiculous, not liking cabbage but eating sprouts is not a diagnostic criterion as far as I know. It's a very strange thing to say, describing someone as autistic was out meant to be a joke? Hmm

My brother and sister are (high functioning) autistic, and I've long thought I'm a bit autistic too - although I can masquerade as normal or like others, I know I'm not. It's no bad thing. But if you're slightly autistic, you'd probably know it!
My dad was autistic too - he's long dead now but looking back we all realised that was what his 'problem' was! He became a very rich man despite his oddities.

Some people can go through thier childhood and most of their adulthood without been dx Autistic many adults are been Dx in there 40s, 60s even older.

It is now been renamed as Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
There is a form of Autism called Aspergers Syndrome but you cant be diagnosed with that now as its now under the diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Autistic society has a useful website and they send you information on symptoms and treatments.

NHS chioces is also a good website.

Type in Aspergers syndrome or Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
