Why do I feel so despairing when "nothing" is wrong?

I was recently made redundant and I also quite recently got over PND.

We have enough money and I have got some part time work that pays well.

But I am second guessing myself over every tiny decision and also feeling useless and that I need advice all the time as I can't trust myself.

What's wrong with me?

I think it must be a bit of a shock to the system / knock to your confidence being made redundant (am poss on the verge of this myself) so go easy on yourself it takes time to get over this sort of thing. I'm far from being an expert but sometimes that feeling just goes after a while - if not do you think you might need to see somebody?

Thanks for replying. I saw a counsellor for PND and still see her occasionally. I think I will try and write some stuff down to talk to her.

People often find redundancy very hard to cope with as they feel rejected and thrown on the rubbish heap.

A lot of people eventually find a whole new life has started as a result of their being free to take on those opportunities and end up feeling rather grateful. It can be a bit of a struggle though.

If you've recently overcome PND then you may find in future you are both stronger, in that you know you can survive feeling absolutely dreadful and being stretched like a rubber band without snapping and a little bit more vulnerable when bad feelings get stirred up again.

It takes time and I am glad you have someone non-judgemental to talk to such as your counsellor. This will help you process this and get to the other side.

You may find things get better on their own over time. However it's possible to suffer from anxiety/OCD alongside depression. Your GP could advise, if the way you feel doesn't seem "right" to you and you don't feel better soon.
