Coming to the conclusion that 23 yr old DD has NPD Sad. Does anyone know of any really good books to help us learn how to manage this - so protect ourselves, draw boundaries, but still give her our love and support?

Your poor DD, and you too.

Has she been seen by psychiatrist/psychologist for assessment?

NPD is very complex, have any other conditions been ruled out?

I would give you are sneaky hug if no-one was looking

No, it's my own (but informed) opinion, based on the information in my last thread. She thinks she might be bipolar, but I think this is more possible
(DD in new relationship with 69 year old), and our difficulties with her over the years....thanks for the sneaky hug...

I haven't seen your other thread, but I would show great caution in diagnosing someone with such a serious MH issue without consulting experts, in person.
There is a chance they could pick up something that someone so close (ie you living with her) wouldn't see and come to a different conclusion.

My ex had NPD and in his opinion there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. He would not have even thought about having bipolar or something else. He got a nervous breakdown and did some therapy afterwards. He stopped going there, because he thought the therapist was stupid...

NPD is incredibly rare and distress / other MH issues can have similar symptoms.

Armchair diagnosis doesn't help.

See if she'll go to her GP and ask for a MH referral.
