Have you stopped taking meds on your own accord?

I am on two meds and one of them does not work. It was started before the better one. It was noticed that it does not work and dose was lowered already in hospital. One has to stop it slowly. This medicine makes me emotionless zombie and I just can't stand it. My next meeting with psychiatrist is in four weeks time. I haven't even seen any doc since my discharge several weeks ago.

Do you have any experience how CMHT will react if you just stop taking meds? In my case there would hardly be any risk of relapse, because the other med works well.

what is it? If you want more contact with CMHT or doctors or whatever wouldn't it be easier to ask for an appointment to discuss changing/discontinuing a treatment rather than play this potentially unhelpful game?

I wouldn't... But if you do, then come off very slowly. It has taken me 18months so far to reduce my meds and I still have 12.5mg to go!
There maybe no risk of relapse but there is a very high probability of withdrawal with almost all psych meds.

am bit hypocritical as have done the same, even with lithium

obviously it really depends what the drug is and what you take it for?

I am pretty angry as well. I had an appointment planned with doc, but they forgot to inform me. So, my next appointment is two months after discharge. In that appointment I would have had asked to stop this med, which won't work and is not necessary(hospital agrees this). I have this med previously and it did not work either. I did not get any withdrawal. I just hate feeling like a robot, especially when I am on another drug that works better.

I am just wondering if CMHT throws me out not complying them.

Yes Blush

They are very keen for not not to do that. Do you have a CPN?

Basically I get told that it is my choice, but that there may well be consequences if I become unwell as a result of not taking them and I need to consider that.

I don't think there is any worries that I get worse. Rather better when this zombie state disappears.

In principle, I think that if your appointment with doc is nine weeks after your discharge, you are allowed tweak your medication by yourself. Especially, when cocked up appointment makes one angry/annoyed for weeks. This leading to exponentinal increase in diazepam usage.

Did they discharge you without a 7 day follow up?

I've frequently stopped/reduced my meds without discussing it with anyone. It's always gone disastrously so it would be wrong of me to recommend it. Depends what you're taking the meds for though.

I got discharged from hospital with no follow up whatsoever so I don't think it's that unusual. IME the CMHT are pretty useless.
