Is it the depression talking or am I worse than before treatment? Considering stopping citalopram

Very brief synopsis

Had severe pnd 4 years ago, was treated with cpn, citlopram and then venlafaxine was well again

In march was feeling a lot of anxiety so went to GPs to 'nip it in bud'

At that point had a lot of morning anxiety that settled most days by afternoon

I was prescribed 10mg citlopram

Within a few days my anxiety symptoms got dramatically worse and I had a horrendous week of barely coping with panic attacks etc really felt I was going mad
Went back and forward to docs got beta blockers and doubled citlopram to 20mg
These eventually helped to bring anxiety under control but a hopeless depression has crept in - I binge eat drink too much have occasional suicidal thoughts get very low agoraphobic and antisocial - feelings of numbness towards kids no sex drive or motivation

How is this 'treatment'? It's not as intense as those first couple of weeks but still isn't a life

Any advise???

I'm ok - I haven't mentioned before as it makes me seem really mad but I'm becoming really eccentric - I have developed a bit if an alter ego - embarrassing really but i seem to be becoming a bit of a weirdo

Weenett - sorry your the same
I keep wondering if I'd be better without it but remember how awful I felt before going to docs
Don't know what to do - being like this is shit but what if another one was even worse??

If another one was even worse, you'd go back to the GP immediately, stop taking it and try something else.

Can I just say, eps citalopram and sertraline made me much much worse. Terrible terrible anxiety and depression.

Now happy on paroxetine which is meant to be the most evil of all drugs, and was fine fr me.....

My worry is that if I did get worse for a while on something new I wouldn't be able to cope with everything I have to cope with (kids, work etc) I feel stable now - I don't feel good or happy but stable enough not to lose it
One of my anxieties is about 'not coping' I get massively overwhelmed at seemingly easy things, I'm just about managing now but not sure if I could take it getting any worse

I know... it's a tough call. I guess the GP could advise on the likelihood of something making you feel worse. It may be that for some medicines it's only a very remote possibility.

Go and speak to the doctor about how your feeling, he will be able to let you know if its normal, how long this should last or to take you of it and try something new
