Can I make a GP appointment just to say I'm at risk?

I have a long history of severe MH issues - hospital, police, all sorts.

Now it is all under control, but I have just separated from my husband and moved town. This means I am at risk of having a relapse becasue of the stress and now I live alone with the kids I need support if I have any risk.

I'm very good with knowing all my triggers and warning signs, but I do need to act quickly if I do get the warning signs, even though they are relativity minor - I have in the past gone from feeling jumpy and not sleeping to sectioning in 48 hours, although I was at a generally worse state of health then - I am now the most stable I have been for my entire life - if anything I am boring now Grin

This can be stopped if I get the right help quickly - usually in the form of medication. I take daily mood stabilisers anyway, but a relapse generally needs sleeping pills and sometimes tranquillisers. If I have a couple of doses of those in the cupboard I can self manage and just have a day of feeling slightly woozy (a small dose is usually enough) and a long deep sleep and that seems to kind of reset things so I can then just have a week or two of being calm and quiet and I am fine.

I'm thinking of making an appointment with my new GP to explain all this, although I doubt they will hand over a prescription for drugs just in case, maybe they can put a note on my file or something?

Sounds like a good idea, also if you see them when unwell they have a comparison. You sound like you know where you are up to, meeting G may make it easier to access help if/when required. Good luck

When you register with a GP and your notes arrive at the surgery they will probably arrange to see you anyway. Maybe just to check you're ok and see what medication you might need/prescriptions etc. I think making contact will help you establish a good relationship with them, making any future contact easier. Good luck and hope your move was smooth.
