Neurovirus I'm scared to death help please

Hey I'm new to posting on here. I am terrified of vomit and last night at 9.30pm my 5 year old said he had a tummy ache so I said go to the toilet and followed him up to my horror when we got to the top of the stairs he was sick in the end my partners mum cleaned it up as she only lives across the road. My partner was at work at the time anyway I sat up all night until he came in and we went to bed my son then woke us up at 9am saying he had been sick it was only a tiny bit though. At about 2pm my partner got the runs sorry if tmi and I was questioning him to make sure he didn't feel sick which he didn't at the time a little while after when I was talking to him he said all of a sudden I think I'm going to be sick and I shouted at Him to go to the bathroom when he had gone I collapsed into a shaking crying mess on the floor. Now he is in bed upstairs and my son is at my mums and I'm downstairs. What are the chances of me already having it in my system or catching it? Does anyone know how long in average it lasts? My stomach is killing me but that might be because I've been stressed out for the last 24 hours. Does anyone have any help advice or preventions? Looking on here is the only thing keeping me going at the moment :(

you'll be able to tell how long the vomiting will last from one of your family members, if one lasts 12 hours, the others wont be more than 24. We've got it now and to be honest its much much less than last time. Vomiting all done in 12 hours max (last time it was 48hrs)

If you have a genuinely severe problem with vomiting the doctor can prescribe you Buccastem. It goes against your gum and dissolves prochlorperazine into your bloodstream and will stop you being physically able to throw up.

Would the doctor actually prescribe me that? And does it actually work?

Stef - I take prochloroperazine as I suffer with dizziness, when we have a bug in the house I have taken it, only once was I actually sick & more than once. Last time I took Motillium 10 which is available over the counter & that works better on the nausea in my experience & I wasn't sick at all. It's so hard to tell though as bugs can vary.
