Anyone else out there suffered from this scary condition? I still have depression from it but after nearly a year I'm so much better than what I was

I don't think Ghost is trying to be unkind either.

Cheekypickle- it does sound like you're struggling a bit at the moment. The thing about posting for the high traffic of AIBU is that it's not always what's helpful: you are just opening yourself up to a lot of people with little experience of the issues you want to talk about, and as there's a regular 'crowd' here, they'll remember your other threads and quiz you, or perhaps view the desire for high traffic/quick responses with suspicion, as it all gets a bit trollish in this section.

If you want some ongoing support, maybe even just one thread you can use to build up a few posters who can answer you sympathetically, then using the Mental Health board is really your best bet. People there are more knowledgable about how to, for example, get the best medical support you need.

AIBU can often do more harm than good if you feel you need a bit of online help with mental health issues.

Scheherezade · 25/10/2012 21:49

Cheeky- I wasn't diagnosed with pueperal psychosis, the psychosis was a part of my post-natal bipolar episode.

I thought you had to not have had any other psychotic episode to be dx with PP, so that it is clear you are only having the psychotic episode because of the post natal period. That's what separates it from bipolar, psychotic depression, personality disorders etc.

cheekypickle · 25/10/2012 21:55

Yes I didn't have bi polar before I had my baby. I only had phycosis when I had her (3months after she was born)

I suggested the Mental Health topic and got bloody jumped on for my trouble!

Scheherezade · 25/10/2012 21:57

I think the best thing to do is discuss it with your care team.

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 25/10/2012 22:12

Wait and see how many days betwwen this and the next very similar thread is my final word.

Has it occurred to you Ghost, that perhaps the op starts lots of threads because of her illness? Im not an expert but it sounds possible. So perhaps just don't read them as you clearly find it very annoying. Its not fair to moan about how irritating you find someone's else mh issues.

GhostofMammaTJ · 25/10/2012 22:19

I did say that my last was the last post on the subject but having been asked a direct question, I will answer. Maybe she does post because frequently because of her mental health issues. That should tell us and her, that it is not being particularly helpful. The help she needs is obviously not being found here (as shown by the way she ignores advice given(Ihave answered how this is shown previously)). She should get proper help in the proper places because of that.

I am not moaning about someone elses mental health issues, just the lack of interest in asked for advice.

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 25/10/2012 22:23

Maybe the lack of interest is due to the illness as well. Who knows. It affects people in all sorts of ways.

CookingFunt · 25/10/2012 23:08

OP you sound like you are struggling at the moment and it might be a good idea to have your meds checked. They may not be working for you the way they are desired to.

cheekypickle · 26/10/2012 11:00

I'm seeing physchiatrist on Tuesday.

I'm so negative a lot of the time :/

I,m a mental health nurse i have nursed several woman with this the actual pyschosis comes on very quickly and can clearly be very frightening if it is recognised quickl;y it can be treated and the actual psychosis can be treated quickly the depression however is another thing. I myself would nt say i was suffering with PND but i did have extreme anxiety and had terrible intrusive thoughts about cot death so much so i did nt sleep with either of my boys properly untill they were six months old antidepresants helped tremendously for me.

cheekypickle · 26/10/2012 11:12

I'm not sure about taking anti depressants though , I don't know why but heard they were bad for you if you get hooked on them

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 26/10/2012 11:19

Cheeky why do you post in AIBU all the time - you will get jumped on here as has been mentioned many times before on previous threads. Although I think ghost is getting a hard time tbh. AIBU is not the place for someone who needs help and is so anxious and obviously feeling very delicate.

You need to talk about anti represents with your psychiatrist. I would suggest lots of research about bi polar so you are really clued up, it's helpful to understand what is going on.

valiumredhead · 26/10/2012 11:20

depressents

valiumredhead · 26/10/2012 11:21

And it is a psych hospital - don't appreciate it being called a mental hospital regardless of wether you have been in one or not tbh.

Mintyy · 26/10/2012 11:22

It gets my giddy goat when people say it does not matter if people post everything in aibu.

Sorry for your cares pickle.

RebeccaMumsnet · 26/10/2012 11:23

Hi all,

We have moved this out of AINU now and into Mental Health where we think it is better suited.

x2boys · 26/10/2012 11:24

You can get side affects which are unpleasent but you cant get hooked as such but with some antidepressants you can get withdrawel affects when you come off them its an individual choice all i can say they helped me and in my job i have seen many people which they have helped

x2boys · 26/10/2012 11:29

actually we call it mental health services these days i call my self a mental health nurse psychiatric hospital /nurse was acceptable years ago its just terminology not really relevant as long as people with mental health issues get the treatment they need

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 26/10/2012 11:29

The ones i was on were fine. Got some mild side effects which weren't a big deal. You come off them slowly when you are ready. They made a huge difference. My dh takes them too and hasn't had no side effects. If you need them id say try them.

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 26/10/2012 11:30

x2boys. I agree. I think some are using it as a stick to beat the op with.

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 26/10/2012 11:32

Hasn't had no side effects!? Fantastic English! Grin

x2boys · 26/10/2012 11:38

not really what she needs is it bloody hell terminology and whats acceptable changes all the the time 100 years ago mental health units were called county asylums and the patyients were actually called lunatics and drs would diagnose people as lunatics because of masterbation i was able to read some very old mental; heal;th notes dating back 100/150 yrs ago as a student nurse

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 26/10/2012 11:47

Shock at the masturbation thing.

valiumredhead · 26/10/2012 12:14

Odd about the masturbation thing seeing as Freud recommended it for 'hysterical' women Grin
