Sick of citalopram, what else is there?

I've been on and off ADs for years but never had anything other than citalopram and never really questioned it. I feel like my brain is all foggy and everything takes so much effort. They upped my dose from 20mg to 40mg which made me feel a bit better but soo tired!
What other ADs are out there? I'd like to do a bit of research before I go talk to my doctor.

Watching this with interest. My husband is on 40mg citalapram ( previously 20mg). He is generally happier but some days he is just sooooooo tired. I have made him a docs appointment for next week in the hope there is something else he can try

What else is there? well...sertraline, prozac, amytriptyline, paraxetine, fluoxetine, escitalopram, and a few hundred old style ADs

in other words

speak to your doctor

I am on 40mg and I definitely have an afternoon slump.

Tiredness is an issue. I came off mine last year about this time for that very reason. It wasn't a good idea Hmm I hadn't considered trying anything else. I am trying to combat the tiredness with lots of exercise atm - it seems to be helping a little.

I think the exercise definitely helps. I drag myself out for a walk.

I am on Prozac and have no tiredness, I highly recommend. Good luck

Depression and anxiety are exhausting in themselves, they affect your sleep patterns! All AD's have side effects but all lift your mood as well. Talk to your doctor!

I go for quiet walks as oftern as I can (I used to run but getting out of bed is a mountain in itself). Relaxation cd's are also very good, especially guided imagery as it can increase your REM sleep function which is greatly affected by depression.
