What is the medication you take as and when needed apart from your ADs? I think it's for anxiety. I read once a thread in mental health, where the OP was given Citalopram (I think) and then something else, possibly starting with 'T' that she ought to take on really bad days.

I am on 20mg Citalopram and would not like to increase the dose for now. I am fine most of the days, but sometimes I get those days when the smallest thing annoys me to the ridiculous point and it just takes over me. I get very snappy, just can't cope with DD wanting my attention, whinging, not being able to get ready, etc. I figured out that maybe having something extra to help me on such days could be the answer.

is it Temazepam? that begins with a T or maybe Lorazepam? that would be ok taken occasionally as it can be addictive if taken regularly

Iamgiulietta · 12/04/2012 19:43

Bump. I have no idea what it is called but it sounds pretty useful x

hathorinareddress69 · 12/04/2012 19:46

Diazepam?

DinahMoHum · 12/04/2012 19:47

It might not be what youre thinking but I take fluanxol for anxiety on an as and when basis alongside my antidepressants.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/04/2012 19:49

Hmm, not sure, it could be it. I think the other name was shorter though (useful as a chocolate teapot). If it is Temazepam, than it's out for me, DD still hangs of my boobs.

I just typed a big response about other medications, but have deleted it before posting. If you feel you're not coping some days, you should go back to your GP and ask them for advice, not a load of internet strangers.

Hope this doesn't sound unsympathetic - I have the utmost sympathy and I've been there myself, but you really need to consult a medical professional.

x-posted. Thanks for all the replies!

Ok, so any -zepams are not suitable for now, fluanxol sounds good. I'm going to see my GP tomorrow and just wanted to come a little bit prepared in case I end up asking her for some more meds.

No problem, prudence. I just figured it's better to waffle on here and not in at the GPs. Obviously doctors are qualified but I don't always trust their intentions as they have targets to be met, bugets to adhere to and I wouldn't like to be fobbed off, hence my little research now. This is not to say I don't trust my GP, I just like to know other people's in the same situation opinions.

only other medication I can think of right now beginning with T is Tramadol. Its a type of painkiller ( a bit like codeine) but can sometimes be used to help with depression/anxiety on an occasional basis I think. Probably best to ask a real doctor though.

McQueasy · 12/04/2012 20:06

Tafil, Tavor, Taxagon, Telesmin, Temazepam, Temesta, Temposil, Terfluzine, Thioridazine, Thiothixene, Thombran, Thorazine, Timonil, Tofranil, Tradon, Tramadol, Tramal, Trancin, Tranax, Trankimazin, Tranquinal, Tranylcypromine, Trazalon, Trazodone, Trazonil, Trialodine, Trevilor, Triazolam, Trifluoperazine, Trihexane, Trihexyphenidyl, Trilafon, Trimipramine, Triptil, Trittico, Troxal, Tryptanol,Tryptomer

Any of these??

Why are you reluctant to increase the dose? If your GP thinks that would be a good idea then it might help tip the balance towards more good days.

Tramadol is not a treatment for anxiety or depression, and benzos do have problems with additction and also that you can become tolerant to the effects of them over time.

More replies! Cheers!
Sorry for the typos, tired.

cats - Over last month I increased from 10mg to 20mg, although I did it gradually through 15mg (or however I managed to split the pill). First day I jumped straight away to 20mg and I felt shit all over again. So will see another month how i feel on 20. However, what I'm talking about here seems to me separate from what Citalopram can do for me. Maybe I'm wrong and a higher dose would sort it out but those moods just come over me with no warning, don't think it's depression related.

McQueasy - wow! maybe thorazine rings a bell?

Loopy - that's reassuring to know. I had checked -zepams on netdoctor and that's what they said about bfing - 'no'.
