Getting the most from CBT

I've finally managed to get some face to face CBT (through new job's health insurance) limited to 6 sessions of 50 minutes. Went for my initial 'assessment' a couple of weeks ago and she (the psychologist) just went through my history and my current problems. The main 'problem' I was going with was sleep problems, but they haven't been so bad lately and so I feel I have less material to work with now! She told me to note my anxious thoughts but it all seems so mundane- worries about work, my relationship, getting ill (with all the bugs going around) but I've also felt quite down (don't know if it's winter blues).
I'm just not really sure how it's going to work if I don't have a focus?
Any advice? (see, even my request for advice is vague!)

I actually found it to my advantage that I was on an upswing when I did CBT as it involved taking a calm look at everything and taking onboard where I was (unwittingly) causing my own problems. I still had anxious thoughts, like you they were day to day stuff but my counsellor used them to show me how deal with any anxious however big and so far, four years and counting, it's worked.

Go for it and good luck.
