Hi Have been on ADs for last two years or so,but after a bad episode in July 2011 the dosage was incresed. Startef feeling really low againlast weekend but was bettter on Monday.Got up onTuesday morning feeling ok, normal day. Went to bedthat night not feeling tired very unusual for me. Lay awake all night, just thinking snd resting but nosleep. Wednesday during the day ok, busy with my 6 kids. That night still noy yired. started seeing a lot of movement and patterns on the worl and hearing music in myhrad, In the last hour befire i got up realised i could communicate telepathically with family.
thursday day normal. Up to bed still not tired. Many conversations bteween my self and XH and also my older chidren with appropriate figures moving on walls and ceilings showing what was being discussed. Becams awarw of small scuttling demon cretures under DD2 bed ( and to freak me out more she was saying plese mumkeep the window shut there are monsters here. Then 3D figure od man apperred and became closer to me. I managed to explel them by realising I had the power of control and told them togo.

Called ds3 from his room and heard his footsteps in from his room. Also called my Mumand Dad from France, so lovely to see them No more air fares, hurray.

I have bipolar and experience both depressions and manic episodes. Sometimes, my manic episoides can become full-blown psychotic which can be really scary so I feel for what you are going through.

I take among other things, Citalopram. My PDoc has told me that AD's can sometimes spiral you off into mania. Over the years I'm able to spot the danger signs and reduce my Citalopram until the mania has passed.

Don't stop taking your AD's on your own, but mention to your doc the possibility of the above happening.

Wishing you well...

All sounds horrible and scary for you. The lack of sleep can trigger a manic episode and surviving on no sleep can also be one of the symptoms of a manic episode. Mind you, sleep deprivation full stop can bring on all sorts of odd experiences like seeing and hearing things, and it doesn't mean you're having a manic episode. If you can get some sleep this might help but I guess this is easier said than done at the mo.

If you feel you can't wait to see your GP your local hospital should have mental health workers in A and E who can get you in touch with the crisis team. This isn't as bad as it might sound, they can just provide some help and support quicker than other mental health services. Is there anyone around like friends and family who you can get some support from?
