Any experience of coming off a/d's (Mirtazapine) 'quickly' ?

Brief background - been on a/d's (with the exception of when pregnant with DD) for 5 years. Diagnosed with PND after birth of DS (now 5) and again after birth of DD. Separated from their father last year, traumatic battle over residence and now divorcing. Depression was very bad last year but lifting now I am out of the anguish of the separation.

Have been on maximum dosage of Mirtazapine for about a year, having increased gradually over a year or so.

Went to the GP 2 months ago to say I would like to reduce dosage as I was feeling more stable now residence etc settled.

He reduced me to 30mg and told me to come back in 2 months for another check.

Went back today and different GP told me there was no reason for me to be on a/ds at all and gave me a prescription for 28x15mg and told me to take 2 weeks worth daily and then every other day for a month.

I was a bit surprised. I was thinking more in terms of getting the hideous Xmas / NY season over with and going back in the New Year to try to reduce to 15mg as I have only been on 30mg for 2 months.

Given that I have been on a/d's for 5 years (different types - lofepramine when b/f and mirtazapine when not), is this not a very swift reduction?

He was pretty dismissive of me tbh. He didn't ask me any questions about my depression. Just said I had been on them too long and needed to come off them. Hmm

Oh and - every other day for a month and then stop, I should have said. So in 6 weeks time I will be off a/d's completely.
