After giving up smoking how long before the depression/tiredness/lethargy goes?

It depends, how did you stop ? I stopped with the Allen carr method, it is going to be 2 weeks tomorrow and I can say that the depression/tiredness/lethargy are over. Congratulation on stopping smoking !

To be honest I have suffered more with irritability !

Thanks. Yes, I've been really irritable too. Well done for giving up. It's been 5 days for me

Well you should feel better any time soon now, hang in there !

I'm into month 4. Just did it cold turkey, didn't read Allen Carr, but did give up after reading his book once before. Got to 7 months then caved in.

The tiredness should be over around 3 week mark. From what I've read it takes about 3 to 4 weeks for your brain to start producing the correct balance of chemicals on it's own (without the help of nictoine) so the irritability/rage Grin should subside around that time.

I will try very hard this time not to cave in. It's fine now about 85% of the time. Going on holiday in a couple of months and the thought of sitting with a lovely cocktail in the evening warmth without lighting up seems daunting but I know I can do it and the urge will pass.

Congratulations on giving up and to anyone else reading the thread.

Stick at it Adamschick. I've given up before and caved after a few months too. My husband gave up for 7 years and started again! The time needs to be right, I think a big birthday looming, new year, birthday, a monday etc all seem like good times Grin I'm determined to do this time but I am a ratty and depressed moron at the mo. Husband giving up at same time so it's daggers at dawn which is depressing in itself. Sad
Maybe take some Nicorette gum on your holiday? It's not great, but just for that first time with a cocktail. As you said, the urge does pass, just think of how well you've done to get that far, you don't want to ruin it. (I am telling myself all this too of course)

Thanks, I will stick at it. Big birthday for me and I always vowed to quit by this age. You stick with it too. It's doable. I did do a 2 week holiday as a non smoker before but I was all Allen Carred up then.
