Are these mild pychotic symtoms?

I have pychosis but usually with a change in my mood (bipolar). However the past two weeks something different has been happening. My mood had been fine but I am unsure if these are cause for concern. About 7-8 times a day I see movement in the corner of my eye, like a bird or a spider but when I turn there isnt one. I also keep mistaking things I jumped out of my seat because I saw a tiger in my back garden but after I blinked I saw it was a pillow, I saw a injured hedgehog but when I ran out it was a sweeping brush. I keep seeing spiders on my clothes screaming and then they are gone. Yesturday I stared screaming and clawing at my neck convinced it was being bitten I was crying and my mum and partner had to restrain me.

I have also been thinking my DP is cheating (which is usually one of my milder paranoia pychosis) I am also scared of my garden at night as I fear there is something there? I am certain as are my family that there are no mood disturbances, just pychosis but it seems to be either seeing something wrong (the pillow) or movement out of the corner of my eye (which could be a fly?) and the neck pain could be physical?.

I am scared to tell my PDOC in case it is nothing and I get a worse diagnosis but I am asking here whether these sound like mild pychotic symtoms? and if so I will tell him.

I have no idea about this, but I do think you should tell him anyway. If they are disturbing enough for you to be acting on them (e.g, checking to see if it is an injured hedgehog, scratching at your neck etc) then they could develop if left. It may very well be something physical, and you should describe in detail what you feel and your fears too - if he is a halfway decent PDOC then he will listen and investigate every possibility.
Unmumsnetty hugs to you :) Hope you feel better soon xx

I can imagine you are worried about getting a worse diagnosis - but see it this way - you have what you have whether it has a label or not.

Regardless of what name it has if your symptoms concern you you need to tell someone.

Hey Crawling-I am not a doctor but used to work in mental health so I would say don't worry and go and see your doctor on Monday.

I would say that this is psychosis. The good news is, is if you see you GP asap you will recover. Early intervention is very important. Also don't worry, or feel ashamed about it-it's an illness-simple as.

Check out MIND's Website as they have brilliant resources.

Get well soon and I really hope you are OK and have someone to talk to in RL Smile

Thanks all it is not that I mind a different diagnosis or a extra one it is just compared to my usual pychosis it is quite mild and if it was perfectly logical (e.g a fly) I wouldnt want more meds because of a fly IYSWIM.

But I will tell my pychiatrist and let him decide. It has been alarming me a bit and can upset me as I am confused a lot, but it is not as bad as the pychosis during a bipolar episode so that is something. My family are very supportive and used to helping me cope. Thanks all.

check that its not a side affect or allergy to any medication you are on too crawling, i had ADs once which really didnt agree with me and could see "ghosts" everywhere and though i had became psychic and was talking to them.

Are you sleeping? Sleep deprivation is known to cause halucinations which sound similar to what you describe.

Crawling · 09/04/2011 16:03

No new meds and plenty of sleep.
