Should I bother? I suffered from some sort of PND / anxiety / insomnia 15 months ago after my son was born. My GP referred me for CBT. I've now had the letter. I would say I am 90% better, with the odd wobble brought on by my stressful freelance work and the usual ups and downs of looking after three boys, two cats, and a workaholic husband. The NHS is crap sometimes! But should I take it up or not? I really, really needed it this time last year but now?

Why don't you go along for the initial appointment, which is usually a 'screening' one anyway, tell them how you're doing now, and in all likelihood they'll say you don't need it now anyway. They may be able to keep you on their system for a while in case you need to go back. It's probably worthseeing what is on offer?

Hi Arcadia I decided to go and I've just got back. Brilliant! I'm going to have more sessions. It was really, really good. I really could have done with this though 12 months ago!

That's great becky glad it went well. Presume it is one-to-one? Hopefully it will help you to manage times of stress in the future. I'm really impressed how you've managed to get back on track so well. Think how we both were 14 months ago!

Oooh Mumsnet looks different. Yes, Arcadia it is one-to-one - he just made me feel as if all my issues and anxieties were totally understandable and the sleep thing too, rather than the usual response I get of 'huh, why can't you sleep?' or 'drink herbal tea, you'll be fine' etc.

PaperView that is just disgusting - I thought 15 months was bad enough.

It's great when you feel understood. That was how I felt with the Counsellor that I saw through the family centre, unfortunately it's finished now Sad but it wasn't 'oh my god how awful' or 'pull yourself together', she just got the situation and got me, and reframed negative stuff that I said into a more realistic light.
