Ok, i suffer with anxiety - dont want to go into detail. Was on citalopram for 2 years, weaned myself off, sort of on my own really. Not against med adv doc knew i was coming off.

In my cupboard i have Citalopram 10mg,
Busperone god knows what mg.

I am in a bad way, it will go away i know, its not a panic attack, more long term than that - i often take bachs rescue remedy but ive run out and dont have any money to buy more.

I know its pointless taking the citalopram to get me over it, but maybe i could take a couple of busperone??? I dont know what they are for exactly but doc gave them to me when i was on citalopram and i had to take them when i was really bad. I know i took one before a job interview once. What i want to know is, will they work short term? i need something

If i go back to the doctor im oing to be be put back on meds again and im trying to avoid that.

Feel really terrible, massive meltdown on phone to DP, who did and didnt deserve it actually - anyone??? Do feel quite desperate

Just googled buspirone for you and it seems it will take several weeks to work. Are you sure you don't have a fiver for Rescue Remedy? If that normally helps you why mess around with pharmaceutical stuff

Tesco have RR at 3 for 2 offer.

and don't take 'a couple' if you have no idea what strength they are. maybe see if your GP can give you a ring at some point today so you can ask?

brightlightsandpromises · 20/01/2011 14:36

madmouse, i would take them at the dose i took them before, its on the box, just not looked yetSmile. But anyway, ive googled too and you are right, it does take a while for them to work, i was given them to supplement the citalopram so waste of time pretty much to take them now.

Thanks for answering, just typing has calmed me down a bit - i have to pick DD up from school soon.

I was wanting to maybe try something else other than bachs, i think i may have desensitized myself to it Grin but again, wary of side effects.

Was just hoping somoene would say, yeah, go take one and you'll feel better, but no, i wont take one. Thanks anyway

sometimes when you are anxious or panicked it can help to change your focus away from yourself to your surroundings.

Make yourself aware in great detail of what you see and feel around you. say you are washing up, notice the water is warm, the plate is smooth and slippy, the floor is uneven and cold through your socks, the mugs are stacked in a neat row.

I've driven mysef home after one of my many supermarket panic attacks by running a commentary like that, indicators tictoc lights red amber green, engine growling etc etc

madmouse · 20/01/2011 15:06

It's a way to keep yourself in the here and now, away from where your panics want to take you

brightlightsandpromises · 20/01/2011 15:08

half the time my panic is brought on by what is around me, ha state of the house, looming pile of paperwork (paperwork what brought it on, tax return) :( Just need to get back to normal and have about 15 minute to do it
