linconlass - hi there, sorry you have been feeling low.

I have suffered with depression for many years, which is now generally well-controlled with medication. However, I do still have bad days.

My attitude has always been that on the days when I am well, I will do/achieve as much as I feel able to. Similarly, on days when I don't feel well, I don'tput pressure on myself to get as much done. I put off non-essential tasks, rest, try not to eat too much rubbish.

Getting up and dressed is a priority because hanging around in your nightdress is depressing! Try and get outside for a short while, even if its only for a walk round the block - especially if its sunny.

Hi there linconlass, hope you have a better day today. I generally find that after a bad day I have a good one. So when having a bad one i think, get this day over and done with in the best way I can and tomorrow will be a fresh new day.
I like to get out in the fresh air for a walk into town and look for bargains in charity shops, buy a magazine, something tastey for lunch, and MN when I get home. Good read too is a must for times of feeling blue so you can just escape into the story.
I have just started taking st. johns wort. It is supposed to help.

Hi Lincoln - re. the job situ. Try and think of things to make the day better despite the job.

So make sure that the journey to and from work is your time. Someone once told me to think of it as though your employer is buying you - but they havent bought the whole of you - just the hours you are working there.

So until you step through that door forget about work if you possibly can. If you get public transport to work then take a book/magazine/ipod with you. Something easy and relaxing. Or if you drive - choose a radio station or a talking book.

x
