I have given up my 1/2 glass of wine a night habit, and I feel better for it!
I literately only used to have 1/2 a glass because I knew it 'didn't agree with me'. For the last 2 weeks since giving it up I have felt happier, less grumpy and lethargic in the morning, more chatty with DH.
It is a subtle shift and I am waiting for the crash but even today when I can know that I haven't had enough sleep I feel less down about the fact.
Just thought I would share my observations.

That is interesting. I do wonder whether I should give up my one glass on a Friday and Saturday night habit as my sleep is actually much, much worse at the moment at the weekend even though psychologically I think 'oooh I don't have to worry about sleep tonight as I can have a glass of wine'. I might try it for a few weeks and see what happens.

Yes Becky I was thinking of you. I am pretty sure my sleeping has improved a bit. I drink a fizzy elderflower drink insted now in a wine glass! My pretend wine I call it.
I have given up caffine as well and had 3 days of splitting head aches. I have been reading about adrenal fatigue and when you are stressed and tired the worst thing for your body is caffine.
Oh god I feel so virtuous, I am off to make a lentil stew and meditate on a cloud!

I will have to imagine you up there meditating while I'm sat here wallowing in self pity about lack of sleep! Lentil stew - yum!

Did you have a bad night last night?

Hi Topsi, I did and last night slept better. I don't suppose you have seen the article in the Sunday Times (one of the magazines, can't remember which) about hormonal inbalance in women in their 30s and 40s being misdaignosed as depression? I read it and thought 'that is me!!!!' I have horrendous PMT now since DS3 was born, my emotions are all over the place, my sleep up and down (it can be really good, and really bad with nothing in between). It just seemed to make sense.

Oh that sounds interesting, no I did't read it but think I have a link somewhere to a Dr who specialises in that sort of thing.......there it is !
Interesting stuff.

I had some cheap wine last night in a casserole and I feel like crap today.
Just spoke to my Mum about it and she kind of laughed it off and told me to 'have a coffee' knowing that I have also given up caffine.
Well we can all see where my depression comes from can't we
BLOODY FUCKING HELL

Mothers!!! That's the sort of thing mine would say too!

The other day she came around and I yawned and she said 'oh had one of your bad nights? You need a coffee to wake you up!' No! I was just yawning!
