Hi everyone,

I had my youngest 10 months ago and my postnatel anxiety started when she was just a day old. although the anxiety is getting better each month when my hormones settle a little more each month i still struggle with it when my hormones are at a high, ie when my monthly is due. i thought id start this thread to see if anyone else is suffering with postnatel anxiety, as its horrible and would be nice to meet other mums in the same boat!

Morning everyone,

i too get a little mad on the anti bacterial stuff, i also worry about bleach ect. i went to the hairdressers the other day and i had a panic attack before going and was really nervous, im quite proud of myself though because i went and now my haor looks lovely, i explained tpo the hairdresser that i was nervous because of the anxiety and she was lovely, she put me at ease instantly and i ended up having a lovely time! feeling quite good today, ive been trying to get out of the house for an hour each day which seems to be helping me feel alittle more normal during the tough days.

Im glad you had a good time at your mums Ladyem, sounds like you had a lovely time and it is nice to relax and have everything doen for you for a change.

Hope we are all ok today.

I will let you know how the therapy comes along. The antidepressants are helping somewhat but the naxiety still comes on at times. It is not germs that I worry about but that I may develop some terrible neurological disease or cancer, that will prevent me from seeing DS grow up. I will be working on this anxiety in the therpy.

mrsdingdong - how lovely that you have such an understanding hairdresser! I'm glad that she was so nice and put you at ease. I am a bit Envy that you have had your hair done as I just can't seem to find the time to fit it round looking after the DCs and DH's work hours! I really wanted it doing today as it is my birthday tomorrow and I wanted to look and feel nice, but I couldn't get in, so I'll try for Friday instead!

thedudesmummy - That must be an awful feeling to live with Sad. It's funny how we all have something different that is the 'big thing' in our anxiety. I hope that the therapy helps and that you start to feel better soon.

Not feeling too bad so far today. Mornings are usually the worst for me, but I actually feel hungry today, which is a good sign! Smile Tesco shop coming today, then my Dad is coming over to do some work in my garden. Hopefully the weather will stay sunny so that we can fit in a walk to the park, too!

Hope you are all feeling well. x

Ladyem - it was the first haircut i had had at a hairdressers in 3 yrs lol, i too find it hard to make time, i used to get my husband to give it a trim for me lol but me and hubby have recently started our own business so hubby is here most of the time now so he told me to go and get it done, he knew i wouldnt decide for myself lol so he told me to and im so glad he did. i hope you find time to get yours done, i forgot how lovely it feels to have it done!

thedudesmummy - i hope the therapy session goes well. i too have fears of not seeing my kids grow up, its horrible isnt it.

i can feel the anxiety in the background today but im expecting it today as im due my monthly tomorrow so im going to try and keep busy today to prevent it taking hold, hopefully itll work as ive been ok the last two days so i'd like to stay ok today if possible!

We have asda coming today ladyem, we used to use tesco but they stopped accepting our type of card so we had to change to asda lol they should be here between ten and twelve, i bought some new nail varnish so im going to pamper myself later lol

hope everyone has a good day today xxx

I used to use Asda, too, but everyone keeps telling me how much you can do with the Tesco club card points, so I have given in and started shopping with them instead! I had a spell of using Ocado as they do a Saturday night delivery slot for free Grin, but they kept delivering damaged stuff, so I went back to Asda. The drivers may not be so friendly, but the food was at lease edible!! Grin

Feeling surprisingly good today, which in itself is making me a bit worried as I keep feeling that perhaps something is round the corner Hmm. I don't know why I just can't enjoy it when I feel good!

Am off to ring the hairdressers now!!

I got postnatal anxiety after my 3rd baby. It was an awful awful time and I felt I was truly losing my mind.
My doctor prescribed me fluanxol (low dose anti psychotic) and its been great. I tried another anti depressant(citalopram) but couldnt handle the side effects, but i dont really get any side effects from the one im on.

Ladyem · 02/09/2010 20:34

Hi Dinahmohum. I'm glad to hear that you have had some help and have medication that is working. It is awful and I'm not sure that anyone who has not been through it can quite understand how it makes you feel.

Had a nice day today in the sunshine and met up with an old friend and her DD. My DCs loved it and so a happy day all round! Smile

Hope you are all having a good day. x

My Grandad died last night Sad . I am very very sad today. Sad

BeckyBendyLegs · 04/09/2010 09:01

Ladyem I'm so sorry to hear your sad news - take good care of yourself xxxx

Ladyem · 04/09/2010 09:23

Thanks, Becky. I am very lucky to have got to 34 and still have a grandparent! He was such a lovely man. It seems he slipped away in the night, so I am grateful that he didn't suffer. He will be missed by lots of people.

Ladyem · 06/09/2010 08:14

Sorry, it seems I killed the thread Blush

Anxiety levels are at an all time low. I find that when something actually happens I can cope after all and it is the anticipation of something happening that is worse!

How is everyone doing today? The sun is shining here and I think we are going to make the most of everyone now being back at school to go to all of those places that are jam packed in the holidays!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 06/09/2010 09:11

You haven't killed the thread, of course not. Perhaps the others are on holiday (it is still school hols, just about).

I'm doing ok today. Today is a PD day here (like an inset day) so no school for my boys. Tomorrow is going to be chaos. Not sure how we're going to cope going back to the routine after 6 lovely lazy weeks.

My anxiety levels are better at the moment too :) Anticipation is hard, though, I feel the same.

Ladyem · 06/09/2010 10:29

Hi Becky! Glad you are doing ok today. How old are your boys? My DD starts pre-school next week and I am going to be a blubbing mess!! Blush I love having her here each day and being able to do what ever we please, but she is only going for a couple of days to start with, so we will still have lots of time together! I want to make the most of this year as she will be in school next year.

BeckyBendyLegs · 06/09/2010 11:18

DS1 is six and about to start Year 2, DS2 is 4 and about to start reception and DS3 is ten months and going nowhere for a while yet! How old is your DD? I was a blubbering mess each time my boys have started preschool or nursery. DS2 goes to nursery now, which is attached to the school. He doesn't officially start school until January but they are taking him in the reception class this term but on nursery hours, if that makes sense. So tomorrow he's going to put on the uniform and his new shoes and he's already told me I'm going to take a photo of him!

Ladyem · 06/09/2010 14:02

Ahh, it's great that he is excited! It's really good that your school do that. DS will only just be 4 (his birthday is the 21st Aug) when he starts school and there isn't a January intake here. They just put them in full time from September, so he will still be so little! DD can't wait to start school and is already asking to go as her friend across the street has started!

Hi, I began suffering from anxiety when my second son was 4 months and as I had no depression the doctors/professionals didn't really know what to do except perscribe a/d medication. This disorder is so difficult and stopped me doing basic things and enjoy me new bundle of naughtiness. I tried all sorts of things from medication, CBT, cranial oestopathy, homopathic remedies, yoga blar blar. The only thing that has worked and changed my life is hypnotherapy. After two sessions and £140.00 eek the anxiety seems to have disappeared. I want to shout this from the roof tops as anxiety can ruin your life, relationships and your ability to enjoy your kids.
PS. Make sure you find hypnotherapist that knows what they are doing. I live in Tunbridge Wells and went to one in Forest Row, he's also got a clinic in Harley St. Good luck x
