Anyone up for supporting each other with 36 hour fasts?

As a midlife / perimenopausal woman these worked brilliantly for me in the summer and I managed to lose my first stone. I'm completely convinced by the health benefits and would like to get back in to them, but can't break through the struggle at the 21hr-ish mark. OMAD is no problem, I just want to hit the 36-hour fast.

Would anyone like to buddy up for some mutual encouragement?

How's the rest of the day been @Peae?

@Potterwatch89 How's your fast going?

I've finished eating for the day and planning on fasting until Friday morning. Is anyone else fasting tomorrow?

fastingaway · 26/02/2025 21:17

I'm with you @Sunflowers84 till Friday morning. Hope today has gone well @Potterwatch89

Potterwatch89 · 26/02/2025 22:23

Thanks @fastingaway I'm very hungry now so going to bed so I can hopefully sleep through the rest of my fast!

Jollyjoy · 26/02/2025 22:46

Well done todays fasters. I think I'll do omad tomorrow with just dinner so will join for 24hrs ish...

Peae · 27/02/2025 04:46

Well done faster, and good luck to those fasting today.

Huge thanks for the support and encouragement. I did really well yesterday. Two cokes and zero sugar. Definitely helps to plan ahead.

Well done @Peae that's great progress. Onwards and upwards.

Potterwatch89 · 27/02/2025 11:50

@Peae that's amazing!! I also only love coke when it's ice cold, so deliberately leave only one in the fridge per day so I'm not tempted to have any more. If I do, my brain definitely doesn't feel so much of the "reward" it does when it's cold. Not sure if you're the same but thought I'd share in case you were.

Sunflowers84 · 27/02/2025 14:08

Hope you enjoyed breaking your fast @Potterwatch89

@fastingaway, @Jollyjoy (and anyone else fasting today?) - just checking in. I'm currently at around 18 hours.

fastingaway · 27/02/2025 16:35

Thanks @Sunflowers84 - I'm at around 20 hours. Thought I would find today hard but ok so far - being busy has helped. Will have a danger moment this evening as out shopping for an event and need to be able to fast through it. Wish me luck.

@Potterwatch89 I like the cold Coke tactic. Hope you have enjoyed your break fast

Peae · 27/02/2025 16:42

Unfortunately I will suffer a warm Coke 🤢. However, ice trays purchased and I am going to try the natural-flavoured sparkling water by freezing the lime/mint combo.

Well done fasters! Think of the autophagy.

I have a bit of a challenging week with work stuff on which has made fasting hard. And wine. Too much wine. However have fasted today and will have just one meal this eve.
Better than nothing !

Jollyjoy · 27/02/2025 18:28

Definitely better than nothing @Whyherewego , I think the most impressive fasts are those when we're really not feeling it but find our way.

I was doing omad and broke early about 4 as was making an early tea for kids before clubs. I think knowing I planned to break it at dinner made it feel like what's the point in waiting and my desires got the better of me while organising food. Still, did 22 hrs, that's fine. I'd like to not eat tonight now after we get home, will do my best.

Potterwatch89 · 27/02/2025 19:46

@Peae completely understand the addiction. It's so hard to break it! Definitely suggest cutting down rather than going cold turkey, I'll stay with you on this one as I was drinking about 4 cans a day at one point, now down to 1

Potterwatch89 · 27/02/2025 19:49

Also thanks @fastingaway and @Sunflowers84, I had a lovely spinach and scrambled egg brunch this morning and enjoying a normal dinner and cheeky glass of wine this evening :) I've pushed past my 11 stone nemesis and down to 10 stone 11 💪🏼 keep going fellow fasters, it does work!

Peae · 27/02/2025 20:03

Lovely to read positive days (even if in the face of adversity).

Well done to those who have done OMAD today or have had other successes today.

@fastingaway Have you survived your 'danger' time while shopping?

I'm just over 24 hours and hoping to get an early night. I'll get to 36 hours tomorrow morning and then decide whether to eat or keep going for a few more hours.

fastingaway · 27/02/2025 21:56

@Sunflowers84 - I survived despite my companion eating dinner in front of me. Planning to go to bed now and looking forward to breaking the fast tomorrow morning. I didn't feel the cold this evening - that's either because I still haven't switched to fat burning or I was walking so much it kept me warm.

Lovely to hear about all the progress everybody is making. It's very motivating and so glad you reminded us that it works @Potterwatch89. I've been trying clothes in very unflattering changing rooms. So needed that positive message.

Jollyjoy · 28/02/2025 08:55

I failed on the no eating last night, most of a big bag of popcorn. Never mind!

fastingaway · 28/02/2025 12:54

@Jollyjoy put it down to a slightly longer TRE and it still followed a 22 hour fast which will have given lots of benefit.

I broke my fast at just under 38 hours today - have a busy weekend with lots of eating out and not sure I will be able to do a Monday fast. So will flex next week.

Jollyjoy · 28/02/2025 14:17

Thanks @fastingaway, yes I agree, still beneficial and mainly I wanted to just share the blips as well as the successes, as others have done! Hope you enjoy your weekend eating out and everyone has lovely weekends.

fastingaway · 01/03/2025 08:07

@Sunflowers84 how did your fast go - hope you managed to break it yesterday? Have a good weekend everybody.

Sunflowers84 · 01/03/2025 21:00

Thanks @fastingaway I broke my fast at just over 40 hours yesterday.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Peae · 02/03/2025 11:30

Well done @Sunflowers84 !

I’m on yet another weekend away, but just went b&b. Will eat when I get home (and have shopped and cooked) and then I’m fasting. Not sure if it’ll be 24 hours or more as I’m currently feeling very strong and motivated.

Am ready to try the sparkling, flavoured ice water too (had ice trays delivered to hotel!) in order to reduce Coke intake.

Also trying some new recipes, and quitting sugar for the week (my weightloss group is having a 7-day sugar challenge).

(Thinking about it, these weekends away really help me clear my mind and focus. Wonder if sign of too much stress at home 🤔).

Hope you enjoyed your time away @Peae It sounds like you are focused for this coming week.

Who is fasting tomorrow? I'm planning to fast from this evening until Tuesday morning. I've just had a chicken stir fry and I'm trying to decide if I should eat something else before I start fasting. I've had a very active day plus a Caroline Girvan workout. I'm not particularly hungry but don't want to struggle tomorrow after being so active today.

fastingaway · 02/03/2025 21:16

@Peae sounds like you've got some solid plans for the week. And impressed by having ice cube trays delivered to your hotel.

@Sunflowers84 won't be able to fast tomorrow as meetings with food. So planning on a Tuesday fast. Best of luck to all fasters for tomorrow. 💪
