Anyone up for supporting each other with 36 hour fasts?

As a midlife / perimenopausal woman these worked brilliantly for me in the summer and I managed to lose my first stone. I'm completely convinced by the health benefits and would like to get back in to them, but can't break through the struggle at the 21hr-ish mark. OMAD is no problem, I just want to hit the 36-hour fast.

Would anyone like to buddy up for some mutual encouragement?

Thank you, I think you may be right.

And keep posting here with us @Peae if it helps. I hope things brighten - sometimes life is just a bit meh.

fastingaway · 21/02/2025 09:13

For what it's worth @Peae I've had ice cream and wine on Thursday, desserts x 2 and Diet Coke yesterday. Plan was to do OMAD today but I am starving and have succumbed to tea already. I may just have a normal eating day today but try and focus on protein and fast during the day.

fastingaway · 21/02/2025 09:13

*focus on protein and fat today

fastingaway · 21/02/2025 09:14

And I meant ice cream and wine on Wednesday

Potterwatch89 · 21/02/2025 09:21

@Peae sorry to hear you are struggling. If it's any consolation I ran out of coffee yesterday and instead chugged 3 cans of diet coke for the caffeine. It is horribly addictive and makes you crave sugar imo. Don't beat yourself up!

Jollyjoy · 22/02/2025 20:35

How are you doing now @Peae, and everyone else? I did omad Thu and Fri but made sure chocolate was part of both! Today's been a normal eating day with pizza for dinner. Planning to do 36ish starting Sunday dinner.

I wondered if anyone has tried the drink Aqua Libra? I bought it on offer as a 'treat' for the kids who are too fond of fizzy drinks, but I think it's lovely. If you haven't heard of it, it's sparkling water with flavourings, I really liked the cucumber and mint one. It says it's 1 calorie, no sugar or sweeteners, but contains 'natural flavourings'. Think it would be fast safe? I think that would cheer me up through some tough spells!

Peae · 22/02/2025 21:19

I’ll look out for that, where did you buy it?

Ate out yesterday and today but had a second meal both days. I’m going to focus on habits rather than weighing myself daily. I’ve managed to walk one commute this week and got back to the gym. Sugar and Diet Coke still 🫣.

Will be trying a fast from Sunday if anyone else is?

I got it in Sainsbury's, I think I've seen it elsewhere too. Walk to work and gym sounds great! Hope you can feel good about those bits.

fastingaway · 23/02/2025 09:44

Well done on the OMADs @Jollyjoy and the walking and the gym @Peae.

It's been a very social last few days meaning not much fasting happened although I refrained from dessert yesterday. Have definitely noticed that my sugar earlier in the week has made me so much hungrier and had me craving carbs. Really drives it home.

I have another busy weekend next week so looking forward to getting in couple of fasts during the week. Busy work week but hoping this will help me get back on track. Plan to start fasting from tonight.

Hi all. I'm just catching up on the thread.

Thank you for all of the replies to my post on Wed. There was lots of really helpful experiences and advice shared, which has been really helpful for me to hear what you all do.

One thing that particularly resonated was @fastingaway's comment of:

"Reflecting on what you said and I will read properly again - I wonder whether you are measuring the wrong thing. Maybe your weight is fine but what you need to be focussing on is losing fat and gaining muscle. And fasting will help with that and weight bearing exercises. You may very well be changing shape without it changing the scales. The fasting so far may also be healing you at a cellular level before you see any outward change. Pretty sure with fasting that it's the visceral fat that goes first before the subcutaneous - so lots of good stuff happening inside."
Thank you @fastingaway - I'm hoping this might be true for me.

Sunflowers84 · 23/02/2025 16:45

I'm also planning on fasting from this evening until Tuesday morning.

Jollyjoy · 24/02/2025 08:54

Morning fasters! Sounds like a few of us in today. I finished eating about 7pm last night. Have a little sore throat feeling developing but hoping maybe some of the anti inflammatory effects of fasting may help to quell that.

Potterwatch89 · 24/02/2025 12:53

@Jollyjoy I'm definitely in today! Currently on 17 hours so early days atm. Will check in later when the inevitable dinner time hunger sets in!

Sunflowers84 · 24/02/2025 13:25

Just a quick check-in with fellow fasters today. @Jollyjoy @Potterwatch89 @fastingaway How are you doing?

Is anyone else fasting today? @Peae I'm not sure if you are?

fastingaway · 24/02/2025 13:34

Good luck today everybody. I'm about 19 hours in. Keeping busy. Will check in this evening.

Potterwatch89 · 24/02/2025 14:01

@Sunflowers84 a bit headachey so having some water with electrolytes in. Feel fine hunger wise so far!

Jollyjoy · 24/02/2025 16:59

Hello, I've been doing fine but suddenly very cold! Hugging the radiator here. I've been on it with the salt today and it makes such a difference I think. Hope you're all ok @Sunflowers84 @Potterwatch89 @fastingaway.

Flibbertyjibberty · 24/02/2025 17:41

I'm fasting today too - just coming up to 24 hours and planning to keep going to tomorrow. First time with no headache (it may come later) but I am now really hungry. Time for a decaf tea! Hope it's going okay for everyone else too, almost bedtime then it's pretty much done Grin

Peae · 24/02/2025 17:53

Hi Everyone, I made 26 hours and am happy with that for this week. Well done fellow fasters and commiserations to those with ailments.

fastingaway · 24/02/2025 18:50

Well done @Peae.

Keep going Monday fasters - I'm at the 24 hrs stage and very very cold.

Whyherewego · 24/02/2025 19:09

Great job @Peae !

I am back after a fairly disastrous week away (staying with friends so hard to control what and when I was eating). But managed a c. 22 hour fast today and I'll try to push over 24 hrs later this week !

LittlePearl · 24/02/2025 19:46

Hi everyone, just catching up on posts after a very busy weekend - friends staying so lots of feasting and definitely no fasting.

Back on it today, started last night after we polished off a bottle of wine so I am approaching 22 hours. Good luck to fellow fasters and well done if you've made it this far. I plan to eat once I get to 40 hours which will be early afternoon tomorrow.

blueshoes · 24/02/2025 19:56

Well done, @Peae. Gettin' there Flowers

At 22 hours here and feeling cold as well. Wishing strength, warmth and early bedtime, fellow fasters.

Sunflowers84 · 24/02/2025 19:58

Well done, everyone.

I'm just past 24 hours. Also aiming for between 36 and 40 hours, depending on how I feel tomorrow morning. I've found today the easiest of all the fasts I've done. Isn't it strange how some can be easier/harder?
