My people!!! Yay!

I am doing Fast800 this month. Did it last Jan and lost 16lbs. Then another stone over the next 2 months.

Waddled onto the scales this morning... 😡😥

Want to lose 16lbs again this month so the Friday weigh ins sound fab.

10000k steps a day, trying for OMAD, keto.

Looking for a C25K app with good running music on it if anyone has any recommendations I would be very grateful! Thought I would give it a go again. Have done it a few times but not sure I can cope with the NHS voice again 😂

HarpQuartet · 02/01/2024 10:43

Hi @FastingPhilly the one I enjoyed was called Boogie Shoes - you'll know soon enough if her music tastes suit you 😊

FastingPhilly · 02/01/2024 11:29

Will have a look! Thanks @HarpQuartet

Fouramclub · 02/01/2024 11:38

Very interesting @StealthLaSilkySightHound ... Apart from the very first time, 2.5 years ago, I haven't needed to do the 3 weeks fat-adaption, my body just seems to have the body-memory.

Yes the first time I felt lousy on and off for 2-3 weeks, shakey, faint, sweaty, etc and yes, I swear by salt and water on days when I feel a little faint.

Now I don't seem to need to fat adapt? I just switch easily from Christmas overeating (and I certainly did!!) to a 4-5 hour window, eating a bit more the first day and then easily eating less the second day and 2 hours would be fine if student DC not here.

Most days I'm fine to eat in a 2-5 hour window - and I will next week include a couple of 30-60min windows for impact... But some days my body is less keen (often PMT or a cold or just stressed) and then I just stretch out my window and eat a bit more.

I'm wondering - what do you think it is? Are you pure keto? That might be it - I do low carb so today have had 2/3 of a carrot, some berries, a tbsp oat bran, a tbsp muesli and 3 squares dark chocolate alongside protein and veggies.

What do others find????

Clearingaspace · 02/01/2024 20:55

@loveyouradvice last week I switched easily and was fine eating carbs and chocs etc and then fasting no problem. Today for some reason I am finding it really hard fasting even though i ate quite healthily for my meal at lunch - quite a decent amount of protein and veg , liv life bread. I finished off with a dark lindor so don’t think it can even be carb flu! I have drank lots of hot water and pink Himalayan salt - it’s strange! I think I will have breakfast tomorrow even though my plan was a long fast.

welcome @FastingPhilly

great new name @StealthLaSilkySightHound

I would post more but my head hurts 😉

To my surprise , as I'm not some sort of Cromwellian kill joy, I've found myself asking me if the two week Festive Binge is worth it ever again

My main takeaway is that it’s just not been that much fun. Feeling stuffed, brain fog etc.

I'd like to join in. I'm trying to develop healthy habits and self-care, and IF has to be one of them, as it worked well for me Oct to mid-Dec. I let things slip in the week before Christmas, and ended up feeling rather unwell last week. I'm too old to think of it as just a blip, so it's time to make sustainable changes.

I realised why yesterday was so hard - I only had about 5 hours sleep the night before!

@LosingAndWinning welcome! Same for me with self care - I was thinking about joining a Princessing thread as even stuff like skin care I am useless with - I cleanse about once a month - my face just gets clean in the shower Xmas Blush I need a complete overhaul.

interesting conversation about weights . i want to restart weights but my back is a bit dodgy right now so not sure it’s a good idea. I signed up to les mills a couple of days ago but haven’t done a workout yet. This was mainly as I have a spin bike which isnt doing any spinning so I want to do at least one workout each week. Maybe the subscription will get me on track.

also snap on daylight I have been trying to run errands at sunset as apparently there is natural red light at that time but in general it just looks gloomy so I doubt I get any red light! My plans to get outside with a hot drink at sunrise have not come to anything but dh and I go for an hour walk every day and I definitely think it has helped my mood.

I don’t seem ready to completely give up Christmas stuff yet even though I know it’s doing me no good. There were some festive bargains in lidl and I couldn’t resist - 20p for 5 lebkuchen!!

@StealthLaSilkySightHound god teenagers are brutal. Last time I was actually on my spin bike mine arrived home early from school and found it hilarious watching me. There were a lot of comments. To be fair I am amazed your dd was up at 6:30!!! My dds were deciding which Kardashian they are last night and decided I would be the mum Chris but I am actually more or less the same age as kourtney 🤪.there are definitely impossible standards to live up to when Hollywood types look 20 years younger than they actually are!

I felt a bit sad reading DCs’ comments! (I was a bit shocked and sad to catch myself in the mirror at the hotel last week Sad

Well, back to work today and I really needed to lean in to my motivations and discipline. God it’s tiring to be around people all day, to commute in the dark both ways, to sit at a desk and have to concentrate etc! The fasting was easy today, but the clean eating was hard!

Hello, hope I'm not too late to the party...

Did IF successfully in 2022, then had a lot of stress in 2023 and almost back to where I was two years ago - bit the bullet and bought some new scales today after my last ones shattered last summer.

Will check in on Friday

FastingPhilly · 03/01/2024 23:13

2 days in and not given up yet 😂

12000 steps both yesterday and today, the first C25K run went well yesterday, pouring down but I was determined to do it.

1lb down so far! Eating between 2.30pm and 6.30pm so a 20 hour fast

Welcome all, this a thread for Intermittent Fasters who want a weekly check-in on Fridays. Chat between the check-ins are welcome too, share as little or as much as you like. Each Friday, log your weight, fast, whatever metrics help you.

Check-in 0 Friday 5 January.
Check-in 1 Friday 12 January.
Check-in 2 Friday 19 January.
Check-in 3 Friday 26 January.
Check-in 4 Friday 2 February.

Can I join please!

I've been doing fasting for the last couple of months (excluding Christmas) after reading "Fast like a girl" by Mindy Pelz.
I noticed on her instagram page that she's running a 3 day guided fast next week. Is anyone planning on joining that? I'd love to do it but am apprehensive as I've only done max 24 hour fasts before.

loveyouradvice · 04/01/2024 00:07

@Clearingaspace ... that's what I love about IF, its total flexibility - I hope today was easier ... the long fast can always happen another day. And I SO AGREE about sleep - under slept, I want to eat so much ... clearly my brain telling me I need energy but looking for it in the wrong place!

@StealthLaSilkySightHound ... Keep grumbling if that's what helps you for this transition week... I hope the adapting doesnt take as long as you fear: your body could give you a nice surprise. And HUGE CONGRATS on Adrienne yoga - seriously impressive!!

@GreatHighway Snap!! I successfully lost 40lbs with IF in 2021, but 2023 was a horror of a year so I am now releasing much of it.... FOR THE LAST TIME.

Congrats @FastingPhilly you are powering through and an inspiration - I've been lying on the sofa today!!

Welcome @Fullsteamahead ... I keep hearing about Mindy P but not yet read anything of hers... I'm a Gin Stephen/Michael Mosley fan so far, but tempted to branch out...

Notmycircusnotmydonkeys · 04/01/2024 00:38

Hope I'm not too late to join. Covid-times, stresses, injuries and medication have gifted me 2 stone more than I want to lug around, so planning an old-fashioned 5:2 rhythm starting Sunday- so far thinking of it as two days of resting everything inc digestion within 5 days of moving (and therefore nourishing). I'm autistic, with 2 x equally neurospicy DDs (with GCSEs around the corner for DD1) so need something simple and unarguable that I don't have to think about. Have pre-agreed with DH that on fast days I will get over the daily bedtime stress/wine hump by going to bed super early as part of the 'rest' regime. Previously 5:2 has worked amazingly for him, effectively but not easily for me as it made me fighty and very awake at night. I can't think about it everyday so hoping this way rather than more subtle daily eating windows (too easy to chip away at for me) will be sustainable enough to get back to feeling more like me.

Peae · 04/01/2024 07:09

Hello new joiners. Never too late and you are all very welcome! Starting check-in tomorrow (whatever metrics you prefer).

I'm on another thread too but would like to join Friday check ins to keep me on track if that's ok!

I did IF before Xmas and felt good, slept better etc. I started again on Tues when we all went back to work/school here. I exercise regularly but drank and ate all I wanted at Xmas so that's the bit I need to get under control, and would like to reach my goal by the end of May when we are going on holiday. I want to cook more and avoid processed rubbish, I'm a bad veggie who often turns to quorn rubbish when I'm in a hurry! I don't have a lot to lose but I find weight loss so slow now I'm 38 🙄

Welcome to the new people, and hello elders of the thread. There's always a lot to take in, admire and be inspired by, not least how much good exercise people are getting (and soggy exercise). I'm glad check-in day is tomorrow: I've been off the wagon and my weight ticking upwards (which is fine, a deliberate choice really at this time of year) and now I would like to be back in the healthier mindset.
