Welcome all, this a thread for Intermittent Fasters who want a weekly check-in on Fridays. Chat between the check-ins are welcome too, share as little or as much as you like. Each Friday, log your weight, fast, whatever metrics help you.

Check-in 0 Friday 5 January.
Check-in 1 Friday 12 January.
Check-in 2 Friday 19 January.
Check-in 3 Friday 26 January.
Check-in 4 Friday 2 February.

I don't want to bang on too much about Oreos, as I'm conscious it is likely to be very unhelpful reading, but to answer the question, I think it's just the classic combination of crunchy and creamy, fat and sugar. Not found in nature but designed over many years by many scientists at great expense to be desirable by humans (despite not even being real food). The apple and nut butter is quite satisfying, but tends to taste cold rather than room temperature.
Thank you for the ideas above! I now have at least four more alternatives to try.

Note to self - read and post every day.

More comfort eating since Friday. Not massive quantities, just less healthy choices. One thing has changed though, in that I eat fewer carbs later in the day if I've eaten for comfort in the morning. So I now find that I've lost a couple of pounds even with this lapse.

I gave jar of coffee and bag of sugar to adult DS on Friday. I didn't order any cream after that, and haven't missed the coffee since then. It would have been around 200 cals every mug, sometimes three times a day.

Maybe that's why some of my choices have been a bit wobbly since then. My body is looking for the missing coffee. Will reset food plan today.

I got some exercise in the garden yesterday with sweeping and tidying. That felt good.

Wrestling yourself from the grip of UPF is a great NSV!

Happy Friday everyone on this side of the world! And almost Friday to everyone else 😉

I missed last week, hope everyone is doing well.

Weight 2 weeks ago: 64.7kg
CW: 64.0kg
SW: 72.5kg
Goal: 61kg

Making steady progress. Was on my period so didn't really much shift last week. Still aiming for Easter but from the recent weight loss rate it seems unlikely.

Saraswati · 02/02/2024 06:38

CW: 9st 12lb
SW: 10st 4lb
GW: 9st 7lb ish

A pound off this week which I'm happy with as stayed the same last week. I have only exercised once this week due to DH being away apart from some walks at lunchtimes so next week I hope to do more.

I hope you all had good weeks! Slow and steady wins the race....must keep telling myself this!

HarpQuartet · 02/02/2024 07:18

Happy Friday, everyone.
Last week: 80.2kg
This week: 79.7kg

Happy with a 0.5kg loss.

@Peae would you be kind enough to do a countdown to March please? I'd be very appreciative x

Dear me this is coming off PAINFULLY slowly!! I'm fasting a minimum of 17:7 (closer to 18:6).
New Year's Day I was 195.2 so I've lost a whole 1.6lb for the month 😂
Well at least it's going in the right direction!
On the plus side, I'm reinforcing good habits, and still going to the gym 2/3 times per week (and still enjoying it strangely enough!).
I might have to try to throw in a couple of longer fasts, particularly when I know I've got something on which will affect what & when I'm eating & drinking.

cw 12 stone 11.9
gw 10 stone 7

I have lost my mojo a bit! am basically staying the same or yoyoing this month. I think officially I lost 1 lb. However there is a lot of room for me to be more consistent, sleep better, eat better etc

well done everyone on loses and also for checking in

Fullsteamahead · 02/02/2024 11:39

05/01/24 66.1 kg
12/01/24 62.9 kg
19/01/24 64.3 kg
26/01/24 64 kg
02/02/24 62.7 kg

@StealthLaSilkySightHound oh boy, can I relate to feeling better for giving up UPF this week. I had a blip on Wednesday when I had an overwhelming desire for caramel condensed milk. I know it's not strictly UPF but it's my one and only binge food, and on Wednesday I was like a girl possessed, I had to have it. Pretty much right away after eating some direct from the tin I felt absolutely awful, bloated, felt massive sugar rush and then huge drop, it was just horrid. So, lesson learnt, steer clear of condensed milk. 😂

All of that said, the experience spurred me on to do a longer fast. I'm still going now, currently at 38.5 hours and aiming for about 44. I feel amazing, so light and somehow clean, it's just such a beautiful feeling.

Lost some more weight this week which came as a bit of a surprise since I wasn't doing long fasts earlier in the week. One thing I did try this week is mixing fasting window up a bit. I managed to force myself to eat breakfast one day (can't lie, it was a struggle) and skipped dinner that night. So possibly this is what helped with further weight loss.

Huge well done to all of you on your successes, be it on the scales or with measuring tape! ❤️❤️❤️

loveyouradvice · 02/02/2024 13:48

Mega congrats to all - we have done good this January, the toughest month of the year I believe.

Wow @StealthLaSilkySightHound - what a lovely surprise to have from cutting out wheat!! Enjoy....

And me:
SW: 14.2
CW: 12.3
TW: 11.2

So I've lost 4lbs this month but am up 2lb from earlier this week, and am still 3lbs above pre-Xmas weight. I'm telling myself this is okay (without really quite believing it): I've grappled with major life events and my emotional responses, and had a very enjoyable meal out yesterday, so I am good with this and feel more stable again.

I'm not going to stretch myself much at the moment - I'm just aiming for 2-8h eating windows depending on the day and how I feel, and focussed on lowish carb high protein/veg/berries/dark chocolate which feels both super healthy and enjoyable. I'm hoping to get safely into the 11s by the end of February, perhaps 11.12, so 1lb a week or so ... but prioritising my mental and physical wellbeing over weightloss at the moment.

I'm ooking forward to the February journey with all of you!!! And after that it starts to be spring and feels so much easier, at least to me.

Check in

start weight in Jan: 73.6kg
weight 5 Jan: 74.2 kg
weight 12 jan: 73.1kg
weight 21 jan: 72.8kg
weight 29 jan: 71.6kg
weight 2 Feb: 71.1kg

So a loss this week of 0.5kg. overall loss this month of 2.5kg which I'm very pleased with.

well done everyone on getting through January! It's been a long old month but the evenings are definitely getting lighter.

my goal for February is to continue 16:8 and cut out as much UPF as possible including cutting down on beloved Coke Zero. I won't give it up completely I don't think but I will try and avoid having one a day.

I have been making my own ginger shots which has been surprisingly quick and easy so I might make a ginger aid instead with some apple juice, ginger and fizzy water. More sugar than a Coke Zero but hopefully not as sugary as full glass of juice!

Fouramclub · 06/02/2024 20:41

@Peae i don't know if you are planning on setting up another thread but if not I can do it! Hope all is well!

loveyouradvice · 06/02/2024 23:36

Mmmm... @Fouramclub How do you make ginger shots? Sound delish....

loveyouradvice · 06/02/2024 23:41

@StealthLaSilkySightHound ... I love your wonderful wise thoughts and reflections... And am so glad that being part of this acts like therapy for you.

This group so helps keep me on track, both inspiring me and making me feel accountable ... I now think and plan around Friday reporting.

Like you, I definitely see this as a one year project - but am hoping that most of that year will be maintenance rather than losing! I think those first 6-9 months after losing weight are some of the most vulnerable - wanting to just enjoy oneself and being more relaxed about eating. I'm looking forward to relearning how to approach that.

loveyouradvice · 06/02/2024 23:45

ps And this is SO to applaud - a HUGE NSV, not remotely subtle but I do understand the forgotting how bad it was before...

However, it has to be said, even with minimal weight loss, I have just survived the first January in 20 years or more where I have had no sinusitis, no disabling depression, my mental health is on an even keel which is so subtle a reward I tend to discount it. Once it improves, one forgets how bad it was before.

and I am longing to join you in the good sleeping habits camp: my goal for Feb!!

Welcometothenightcourt · 07/02/2024 11:32

Hi everyone! I'm new here but I can't find a March count down so getting involved very late to the game - but I've been reading through the posts and just seems like such a lovely, insightful group of people here :)

I'm a mum of 2 who just wants to lose the 5kg of stubborn weight to get back to my heavier pre-baby baseline (I used to be between 58-62kg so aiming for 62 to be realistic). I just feel self conscious about my body and want to reignite the romance a bit in my partnership but think a bit of body confidence would go a long way to help!

I haven't weighed today but I'm around 67kg I believe (relatively short around 5'2, and I have a small frame so just don't carry it well). I'm keen on not getting obsessed with weight and food like I was in my early twenties but just shed a few kg with lots of self love mixed in.

I must say I do 'over indulge' when tired or stressed, and I love sweets, choices etc when the kids are in bed as it feels like a time to treat myself without having DDs like gannets trying to eat whatever I have ha!

I have 2 young children so try to eat dinner with them most nights so I will hopefully be fasting through breakfast til midday. I'm starting a workout programme (found online) which includes simple strength and a bit of cardio so I'm excited for that. I'll be sure to include protein in my smoothies post workout. I'm also a strict veggie and trying to reduce the amount of animal products I eat for environmental reasons so will be being conscious of that too.

Anyways, hope it's OK that I butt in just now!

Fouramclub · 07/02/2024 14:00

@Welcometothenightcourt welcome and hopefully see you in the countdown to March thread!
