I obviously posted too soon yesterday. My stomach bug is back with a vengeance today which isn't ideal. We have DC's birthday this week and we are all ill. At this rate we'll be having birthday celebrations in our pjs.

hevonbu · 21/11/2017 16:22

I'm on my second week without sugar or cheese-milk /excdept a big mistake over the week-end/ but not strictly on the 8-week-diet just yet. I've just finished the book yesterday and decided that I need a few days to cobble together a 'food plan' with the right calories in it, at first glance I found the recipes in the book a bit tricky at times like sometimes there are quite many of the more unusual ingredients which I don't have. I have to go over the recipes in the book and mark which ones will work, buy those items, and cross out the ones that won't work with me. Must also find an app for counting calories + buy some additional kitchen equipment that is still missing (kitchen scale for instance, and a mixer for making hummus). So far I'm trying to keep the eating to at around 6 am, 9 am (snack), noon, 3 pm (snack) and 6 pm.

Oh no place, hope you feel better soon. When I had a norovirus one winter, I then transmitted it to the dc, who then kindly passed it back to me. Go easy on yourself even when you feel better because it can leave you ever so washed out for weeks. Flowers

Hevonbu I also find that the recipe book meals are not really my cup of tea. Some are lovely, but a lot of them are a bit bean/lentil heavy for me. I have found Jamie Oliver's new book has a lot of suitable recipes, or ones that are very easily tweaked to fit this plan. Do you have a b&m by you? I got my kitchen scales from there very cheap and they are still going strong about 2 years later.

My dinner tonight- Jamie o's sticky pork stir fry. It was absolutely beautiful. It does have a tbsp of honey but that's the only carbs I've had all day except milk, so I should be alright I think.

Agree that Jamie's new book (5) fits this really well. Also, Hugh Fearnly-Thing - light and easy, and veg every day.

TsunamiOfShit · 22/11/2017 10:46

Just done my online tesco shop and found frozen cauliflower rice to chuck in the microwave: www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/297395359

Thought I'd share. :-) No more messing about with grating the cauliflower head or having to but the pre-riced which get off super quick.

Jigglytuff · 23/11/2017 10:23

Ooh good spot tsunami! I sometimes buy that ambient packet stuff but it's ruinously expensive.

This really is a great WOE and I can't tell you how much easier I've found it than other diets.

I'm still here newaveragebear! Limping along. Actually I've found it enormously hard to get back on the wagon after my half term hols and haven't been weighing as was too miserable and convinced I'd put on 3/4 stone. I bit the bullet on Tuesday and I've put on 5lbs since my lowest weight on BSD so it's really not that bad.

And now I'm on day 4 of strict club. If I do 3 days in a row, I've found can keep going but I've been getting to 2 and then having a biscuit and then eating all the things. Self-sabotage is a bitch.

I've just got Diana Henry's Simple (from the Book People - was quite reasonable) and there are some great BSD friendly recipes in there including exciting things with broccoli and cauliflower!

Batch cooking is GENIUS! Why didn't I think of that?!

TsunamiOfShit · 23/11/2017 10:54

I've just got Diana Henry's Simple (from the Book People - was quite reasonable) and there are some great BSD friendly recipes in there including exciting things with broccoli and cauliflower!

I'll look that up. Are there any other "pure" BSD recipe books out there other than the official one?

I've lost 6.5 lbs since Monday on this diet and feel great! Love the food, had the Thai red chicken last night which was amazing and surprisingly filling.

Jigglytuff · 23/11/2017 11:39

Not sure although the BSD website is a good source of ideas. You can search by type of meal and calorie count which is useful

Jigglytuff · 23/11/2017 11:39

Oh and congratulations- that's a stonking loss! You must feel wonderful Smile

Neenook · 23/11/2017 11:40

Hi, I meant to start this today but caved and ate toast instead...
I think posting here and being in a group might help! Planning to eat 2 meals a day on 8:16, starting with avo and poached egg tomorrow for lunch. Low but not no carbs. Hoping that's the right idea!

TsunamiOfShit · 23/11/2017 11:59

Tanks Jiggly, will check out that website. I'm worried about running out of meal ideas and losing inspiration.

That sounds lovely Neenok, making me crave an avocado! I'm doing it the 16:8 way, I find it easier to have two larger meals rather than 3 small ones.

Jigglytuff · 23/11/2017 12:04

Oh me too. If I have breakfast, I start craving more food by 11am! I'd also rather eat loads twice a day than eat meagre amounts 3x

Jigglytuff · 23/11/2017 12:06

thebloodsugardiet.com/ is the official website

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 23/11/2017 12:14

Welcome all the new people! bear thanks for your kind wishes. I feel as though I'm reaping the rewards of ignoring my body and pushing through illnesses, stresses, etc, too many times. It's all caught up with me and I am exhausted.
I've had no appetite with this bug so have been picking at odd bits and pieces. I'm going to try to focus on eating well today.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 23/11/2017 13:33

Hi all, I’ve been quiet for a while. I’ve been really struggling to stay in plan but I hit 10kgs loss today!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/11/2017 14:25

Some great losses everyone, well done!

I caved too- some cake happened. It wasn't even nice. I am my own worst enemy sometimes!!

Hope you feel better soon place, you're probably right that you've been doing too much. Eventually your body just gives in and gets a virus that forces you to slow down. For me it's always horrible throat and chest infections.

I look for recipes on Pinterest, there's loads if you look for HFLC recipes, or even Paleo recipes which are often similar principles to BSD. Trying new things is definitely what keeps my motivation on this plan, so it's always worth looking up new things to try to mix up the old favourites.

thebluenailbrush · 23/11/2017 18:43

some great weight losses since i last logged in. Well done everyone. I'm a fan of Diana Henry so will check that book suggestion out.
Today was the first day i felt bad. Dizzy on way home and a bit nauseous. I had a small latte for breakfast when i got to Uni, 7 almonds during the seminar as I was actually hungry. Lunch was the other half of my 3 egg tuna omelette (tuna in brine) with some crudités and a very small apple. Still starving so i had 2/3 packet of M & S chargrilled calamari which helped massively at 4pm . On way home felt sick, maybe it was too much calamari on a pretty empty tummy? Maybe it was just the environment, shit day, far too many people and noise, was constant all day.
Home having a cuppa, had 1 tsp of daughter's Haagen Daaz (was enough) and a single Hotel Chocolat ( i buy them when they're half price and can restrain myself to one at a time as they are so bloody expensive). Feeling better but undecided what to eat later. Probably soup.
NB i'm doing this to lose weight, I don't have problems with blood sugar levels.

pfrench · 23/11/2017 23:35

I have something chocolate every day. That's what makes this sustainable for me.

hevonbu · 24/11/2017 04:15

I'm on my second week practically without sugar (the 'practically' comes from a sip of rose-hip soup yesterday, 1 dl of the soup had somehow sneaked its way into my lunch box www.backyardforager.com/rose-hip-soup-recipe-nyponsoppa/ but mine was readymade from the supermarket...). It's the last preparation week before starting on the diet I hope. Yesterday everybody at the office (except me) had a bit (or two) of carrot cake which someone had brought with them, but I felt it was easy to say no. I feel part of the trick had been eating a few cashew nuts and an almond just prior to joining them.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 24/11/2017 08:38

thebluenailbrush I have a single Hotel Chocolat as my chocolate treat too. I wonder if you didn't have enough salt yesterday. I know that can make me feel dizzy.
My stomach bug seems to have cleared up but now I have caught Dh's cold. I hate this time of year, it's just one illness after another.
I'm not eating much at all so from a BSD pov it's fine. I'm back down to the lowest weight I've ever been on BSD but I'll probably climb back up when I'm better.

wigwaminamustardmill · 24/11/2017 08:53

I’m still here. It will be my 4 week weigh in tomorrow and I haven’t cheated once!
I think I’m a bit scared that if a sweet thing passes my lips I will fall off the wagon.

Neenook · 24/11/2017 08:59

So, first day today! Feel really quite motivated, had an awful nights sleep last night, really bloated and uncomfortable so that's made me more determined.
Only problem is - I'm away with work all next week and staying in a premier inn. Any tips for staying on track? Thinking I might have breakfast and evening meal and skip lunch as that's all paid for...

wigwaminamustardmill · 24/11/2017 09:41

Hi Neenook. Eggs for breakfast will keep you on track and meat and veg or salad for dinner, just ask for your meal without chips, bread or rice. It will be hard though!
I avoided eating out for the first 3 week’s, the thought of it sent me in to a fluster but I’m getting the hang of it now.
I’m craving chips now!

Neenook · 24/11/2017 09:55

Thanks Wig. If I can get through next week I'll be flying! Not the best time to start probably but I'm so fed up with myself. Tired, low mood, no motivation...all down to crap food.
