Ways of Eating Trial

Hi folks,

The lovely people at Ways of Eating are offering three Mumsnetters the chance to trial their six week introductory guide to the 5:2 diet.

If you want to give the 5:2 a go but don't know where to start, this can be a great way to try it out and get the know-how to carry on once the trial is over.

Some Mumsnetters have trialled it in the past with great results, and we're even giving it a go here at Towers.

The trial starts next week, so if you want to get involved either PM me or reply on the thread, and I'll be in touch!

Oh, and here's the website to give you a bit more information: www.waysofeating.com

I will give this a go. I tried to register but it asked me for £40 is this right?

BIWI · 26/03/2015 22:16

It is. It isn't a free trial.

Millierose20 · 26/03/2015 22:36

Thanks BIWI. I thought it was free. Oh well I will just cary on myself. Grin

BIWI · 27/03/2015 07:02

From what I've seen/read, Millie, it's £40 worth spending.

Breadandwine · 27/03/2015 23:25

This is free!

All the info on the 5:2 Way of Eating (it's not a diet, BTW, weight loss is merely a side effect) is in the OP.

The Horizon programme that kick-started it - links to all the research (why you should practice intermittent fasting) - all the support and friendliness you could ever wish for is to be found in that thread.

And it won't cost you a penny! In fact you'll save money by missing the odd meal, or cutting your calories.

Come and join us - you'll be glad you did!

Those 'lovely people' are trying to sell you something that is otherwise free.

BIWI · 27/03/2015 23:31

Well, yes, they are trying to sell you something. But it's a short-term programme (only 6 weeks) and for a relatively low sum. For some people, paying out the money keeps them more focused/committed.

That's not to say that what's offered here for free isn't invaluable (you will know that I believe that, given what I do with Bootcamp!), but it's an extra 'layer' of commitment which can help a lot of people.

It's something that's worth considering, I would say. And possibly as an adjunct to the support threads that you run here?

SetTheWorldOnFire · 27/03/2015 23:42

The whole point of 5:2 is that it doesn't require lots of equipment, information or expense though! I've been doing it successfully for months without paying, I have lurked on the MN threads and think they are probably better than any £40 plan...

Breadandwine · 27/03/2015 23:55

Hmm… Maybe we should encourage to start with the Mumsnet threads, and if 5:2 is not working, then give this a go?

Just remembered this was offered before - back in January? I've yet to see anyone come back and tell us just how great this £40 'offer' is!

Milllli · 28/03/2015 03:30

They are just making money out of peoples desperation aren't they?

BigChocFrenzy · 28/03/2015 07:51

Don't just lurk. Come and join us for friendly support & advice on the main 52Thread51 . Also the 52ExerciseThread2
Everyone is very welcome

We've built up quite a bit of expertise too, helping folk for free.
If you decide after a month you'd like extra support, then pay your £40: sometimes paying hard-earned money really concentrates your mind (sometimes it just makes your wallet lose weight)

I agree with b&w about wanting feedback about Ways of Eating first.
Can anyone who used them for 5:2 post here ? It would be really useful to know if you rate the £40 as well-spent.

SetTheWorldOnFire · 29/03/2015 23:40

I keep meaning to jump in, but it always takes me too long catching up on the reading - you guys move fast! I do appreciate all the advice though and have picked up loads of tips, recipes and everything else which is provided for free on the threads. I also love that they're so positive, loads of support and it seems like a large proportion of the followers are doing really well.

LotusLight · 30/03/2015 08:42

If anyone thinks they will stick to diets better if they pay then by all means forward money to me and I will hold it safe for you and return it once you lose your weight...laughing as I type.....
