Coming off the mini pill and trying to conceive

Hi,

im wondering if anyone is in the same situation / has experienced the same / can offer some advice.

im literally driving myself insane.

I came off the mini pill (cerezette) 3 weeks ago, I haven’t had a withdrawal bleed or a period as of yet. I do keep getting cramps. Today I have had waves of nausea, cramps, occasional boob twinges.

myself and my husband are wanting to conceive, and I feel like I’m losing the plot. I know it’s only been 3 weeks but is there any reason I may not have had a withdrawal / bleed yet? The doctors won’t do anything until it’s been 3 months without a period.

I have bought ovulation tests and plan on testing regularly (can you even conceive without a period after coming off the pill??)

does anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance

@lickenchugget Really!? :) i have tested yesterday and today and negative so far :( maybe it’s too early for it to be positive (she says hopefully !! :) )
I certainly noticed a big change in CM last week (tmi apologies) so I’m keeping everything crossed!

Three weeks is not even a full cycle, you’ve not even “missed” a period yet?! You might need to just be a bit more patient.

You don’t have a withdrawal bleed from the mini pill. I stopped taking it in May (not to TTC) and period took about 6-8 weeks to show up I think. Withdrawal bleed is only a thing with the combined pill afaik. I was taking it continuously for 6 years this time though - I think it took less time to return after shorter spells previously

@Haus1234 I haven’t had a period in 4 years as the mini pill you don’t have a break, so I don’t know where I am in my cycle.

I’ve been trying to research how long after coming off the mini pill you can conceive. I stopped taking my pill yesterday as we’re hoping to conceive as soon as we can. I’m worried that I don’t know when I’ll be ovulating and it’ll be pot luck until I’m having a regular period.

This was me too… came off mini pill in August and had no withdrawal bleed. Conceived in October.

@Needausername19 that’s sort of us at the moment. I’m pure guessing when I’m ovulating at the moment… just hoping for the best, but I’ve read coming off the mini pill can mimic pregnancy symptoms so I just feel like I’m going round in circles 🤦🏻‍♀️😅
@Esteemed congratulations!! Did you have any sort of bleed at all coming off the mini pill? What were your pregnancy symptoms if you don’t mind me asking? :)

I conceived within 2 months twice coming off cerezette. Didn't have a withdrawal bleed for one.

I didn’t have any bleeding at all until the implantation bleed which I actually thought was my withdrawal bleed.

I just had a lot of sickness and tiredness - I did go on to have HG though.

This was some years ago but I was on the mini pill between my kids. I came off, had three regular periods then got pregnant. I don't remember anything unusual or exactly when the periods resumed.
You have to stop overthinking and give it some time. If your symptoms continue and you are not pregnant, see a doc.

This was me last year, took about six weeks for my first period, we did use condoms for a bit then to try and time the pregnancy for a good mat leave. Caught first try two months later, good luck!!

Sorry just to add, I also had pregnancy symptoms for about two weeks before my period returned. Put it down to hormones in the end, hormones play horrible tricks!!

Did you call pregnant straight after coming off the mini pill and how long had you taken the pill for?

I’ve been on contraception for 8 years, I went onto the implant for 3 years and have been on the mini pill for 3.5 years

@GSDmomma Have you had a period or positive pregnancy test yet? I’ve been off 3 weeks and not had a period yet! Im being impatient.

@Needausername19 Hi, for an update tomorrow will be 8 weeks off the pill and still no period :(

@GSDmomma No way, 8 weeks! I’ve only had a light bleed 3 days after coming off the mini pill. How long were you on it for?
I’ve been using ovulation tests and also joined the app Flo as there’s a lot of people in our situation!
Hope AF turns up soon so you can gauge your cycle!

@Needausername19 i was on cerezette for 4 years, and the combined bill for 2 years before that. I use ovulation tests daily, I have the flo app and the pre mom app. Google is basically my best friend at the moment 😂

@GSDmomma Have you had a peak ovulation yet? Hoping you fall pregnant soon

@Needausername19 I had a positive digital test 1 month ago, and then 1.5 weeks ago I had 3 ‘high’s’ within the space of a week on the strip tests. And thank you, you too. I feel like there’s something wrong with me because 8 weeks is ridiculous 😭

@GSDmomma I’ve been off contraception for 5 weeks now so I’ll let you know, if/when my period comes but I might be in the same boat as you!

@Needausername19 please do keep me updated :) my GP has said I can go for blood tests if it doesn’t start after 3 months, so if it’s not here by end of November I will be getting myself into the doctors. I have been having lots of symptoms for weeks, just no actual bleed

I never had a bleed, because I fell pregnant straight away!

Went back on it after having my DD, then off it again 5yrs later and conceived DS second month.
