Hi girls, I get the implant out next week due to it leaving me riddled in anxiety & other stuff i’m super nervous as I don't really want to be pregnant yet although it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, i just don't feel ready.... i don't want to go on any other contraception as it just leaves my hormones & weight gain crazy!! also don't like condoms. so really my only option is pull & pray LOL. So have any of you got pregnant from the pull out game? I’m just a lil nervous

Not very.

😅

JohannSebastianBach · 25/05/2022 19:05

What do you call people who use the withdrawal method?

Parents

A quick Google says 1 in 5 people get pregnant with this method. Doesn't seem reliable to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

(I also can't understand why a man would choose a method that means he has to pull out of the thing that's making him orgasm at the crucial point. I certainly wouldn't be very good at it)

Lazypuppy · 25/05/2022 19:07

Why not just track your cycles and not have sex in your fertile week.

Pull out method is not a form of contraception

Libertaire · 25/05/2022 19:08

It’s called ‘Catholic roulette’ for a reason, OP…

Northernsoullover · 25/05/2022 19:08

It doesn't work. My son is now 19 😂

LemonSwan · 25/05/2022 19:11

It worked for us for 7 years. Now have a 4 week old 😂

We were either extremely good at it, borderline infertile to have lasted that long, super fertile to have got pregnant without ‘’trying’ or extremely lucky/unlucky - depending on which way you want to look at it 🤷‍♀️

Basically it might work - it might not

ZealAndArdour · 25/05/2022 19:13

Why not get a copper coil?

It doesn't work. My son is now 19 😂

My daughter is 20 :)

Mammma91 · 25/05/2022 19:16

I have a cheeky 3 year old as a result of the pull out method. Although he’s the best thing ever to happen to me - he’s evidently proof the method doesn’t always work 😂

ShowOfHands · 25/05/2022 19:17

Nobody likes condoms. They're a bit crap. But reliable.

Pull out works for couples when they're extremely discipled and the man has no sperm in his pre-ejaculatory fluid. Since you don't know if your dp does, it's a huge gamble.

EcafTnuc · 25/05/2022 19:22

also don't like condoms. so really my only option is pull & pray LOL
The option is use a condom, you might not like them but if you don’t want a child like you claim, then surely putting up with “not liking” a condom is way better than having a child?

Pull out is not effective and not classed as birth control.

mummabubs · 25/05/2022 19:22

(Healthcare professional here). Definitely not reliable! Unless you're open to the idea of either being pregnant or opting for termination please don't rely on it as it's not a form of contraception.

Summerbubbles · 25/05/2022 19:22

Hahaha ds is almost 5.

Only use withdrawal method if you are actually happy to have a baby.

cottagegardenflower · 25/05/2022 19:23

Its fine if you don't mind a pregnancy, but absolutely not if its the wrong time for you.

mummyh2016 · 25/05/2022 19:26

If you have a DH who forgets to withdraw at the crucial time then not effective at all. I had to go and get the MAP at 5 weeks post partum Blush

Angelik · 25/05/2022 19:26

Don't be ridiculous. Just use a condom. It's incredible irresponsible not to.

Ponderingwindow · 25/05/2022 19:27

😂

buy condoms.

If pregnancy prevention is your only concern, some of the alternate materials are much more pleasant. They are also expensive, but much cheaper than a baby.

Tesoroxx · 25/05/2022 19:28

It doesn't work I have a son as proof 😂

Aimee1987 · 25/05/2022 19:30

My eldest, I wanted to be off hormonal contraceptives for a few months before we started trying. By the second month I was pregnant ( not intentionally, a few months earlier then we had planned)

floridapalmtree · 03/06/2022 23:43

Looks like the consensus here is you'll get pregnant so I guess be very careful unless you are ready to have a baby.

However, the withdrawal method worked for us for 20 years without any unwanted pregnancies. Prior to that we had 4 children, very easily conceived, we would have been happy to have more although medically it wouldn't have been ideal for me. We started this method when I was 33 and continued until 53.

MuchTooTired · 03/06/2022 23:47

It works for us, but I have never fallen pregnant naturally and conceived via ivf.

If I were able to get pregnant naturally, I wouldn’t use it as a contraception method unless I was happy to have a baby!

Runkle · 03/06/2022 23:49

Worked for us for 9 years and the first time we didn't - intentionally to start a family - I got pregnant with twins!

Runkle · 03/06/2022 23:50

(We wouldn't have minded a pregnancy in between then - not advocating it if that's not what you're prepared for)
