Looking for advice on contraceptive my husband won't find out about

I've been looking into my options but am rather confused. I need a contraceptive my husband won't find out about. My doctor recommended the Nexplanon. Implants but a friend has an implant and you can feel it under her skin. Any advice appreciated.

IUD

But.. why do you need to keep contraception a secret from your husband?

eaglewings · 13/10/2011 17:05

I am sorry I can't answer your question fully, but does a coil show in anyway?

More importantly, why can you not be honest with him, do you need to talk thi through confidentially? Your local family planning clinic or GP should help

DeepPurple · 13/10/2011 17:07

The injection?

GHAHSTLYGHOULYpants · 13/10/2011 17:08

IUD, or "the coil" as it is called. It is completely unseen. It does affect your cycle though, so that may be a concern.

I am more worried that this is something you are doing without the support of your DH. Is there something wrong?

Your GP should be able to talk through the various options with you.

My GP will not administer the implant, he is not comfortable with it and says there needs to be more research done on it. Just saying.

claire96 · 14/10/2011 18:20

Isn't there a thread with the coil?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 14/10/2011 18:21

Well, yes.

Why do you need to hide it? Confused

AnyoneButLulu · 14/10/2011 18:28

If your husband would not accept your judgement on whether you want children then I suggest divorce as your most suitable contraception. Consider this an official "Leave the bastard".

injection, but it will stop your periods. Otherwise, the normal pill.

come on though, we need backstory.

mrspear · 14/10/2011 18:34

coil and implant yes there is a chance of him noticing dito the cap and as for the pill he can find the packet. How about the injection - just avoid showing your bum for a couple of days after!

I will ask nor judge about why - just think you may get questions why you are not pregnant in a year or so!

Mirena has a little thread hanging out the cervix.

Don't know about copper coil.

MurderBloodstabsandgore · 14/10/2011 18:35

anyonebutlulu hear hear

lubeybooby · 14/10/2011 18:35

Injection would be easiest to cover up... but why does it need to be a secret? Are you ok?

mrspear · 14/10/2011 18:35

Yes but periods you can say you have when you haven't - unless OP's DH is going to check Confused

saffron · 14/10/2011 18:36

Depo provera injection every 11 weeks is your best bet. No one but you and your GP or F/P clinic you are unlikely to have periods tho

saffron · 14/10/2011 18:37

no one but your GP of F/P clinic will know

Northernlurker · 14/10/2011 18:38

I agree that contraception you need to hide = a relationship you need to get out of

jenniec79 · 14/10/2011 18:47

Injection probably the least obvious, but I agree with Northernlurker

claire96 · 14/10/2011 18:59

Missed periods would probably get noticed so injections are probably not a good idea.

It's not what some of you seem to be thinking. DH had the snip a while back.

Oh so you want to cheat on your husband and not get caught by him finding contraception where none should be needed.

Why not just leave him - let him get on with his life with someone who loves & respects him?

I hope the very very least you are doing is having safe sex.

lubeybooby · 14/10/2011 19:11

In that case use condoms with the other man to protect both you and your husband from STI's

Northernlurker · 14/10/2011 21:15

Ok well asking for contraceptive advice so you can cheat on your husband is really, really poor. I restate my advice - you need to get out of this relationship.

GrumpyInRepose · 14/10/2011 21:21

You want to cheat on your husband?

Round of applause for you Hmm if you haven't enough respect for him to let him find someone who cares for him, at least stop short of putting his life in danger. Use condoms with your new chap.
