Just realised we’re a bit close to the end!

Yes, it really affected swimmers who are booked for the meet in Winchester in December.

We had an island inter-insular the week after the airline collapsed which made it a complete nightmare.

I didn’t realise they were coming across for that but I know you come across for counties in Jan/feb and the timings are always tight anyway but if you can’t fly Southampton that’s really going to cause problems.

FriendofDorothy · 27/11/2025 20:07

Yes it's very tricky. Hopefully the other airline is going to pick up the Southampton route.

itsgettingweird · 27/11/2025 20:16

🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Madcats · 28/11/2025 16:40

Sub-optimal for a weekend meet, but Easyjet fly into Gatwick from St Helier.

I hope another airline is able to step in.

All well and good, but we live in the premier island... Guernsey :)

see you in a few weeks!

Glittertwins · 02/12/2025 16:47

itsgettingweird · 02/12/2025 19:37

No I’ve only just got in from training with ds - I love watching it bit I’m never home 🤣

Glittertwins · 02/12/2025 19:51

I’m able to watch the evening sessions tonight and tomorrow at home. Will have to use my phone at the pool on Thursday night though. Can’t watch the heats at the office as phone screen is in the wrong place near my monitors to be able to see.

Indeed I will see you then! I am for once planning on spectating only, DS doesn’t like me being poolside if possible.

itsgettingweird · 05/12/2025 19:32

I will be poolside to assist DS with pre pool and to stop him toppling off the blocks!!!

Other than that I shall be anywhere other than by the side of the pool 🤣

Glittertwins · 11/12/2025 14:39

Woohoo, finally got a PB after 18 months today!

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

May we all enjoy a few lie ins before the LC season starts in earnest!

Glittertwins · 26/12/2025 21:02

I’m on morning coaching duty next week. It’s a slight lie in I suppose!

Merry Christmas!

Our household have a 2 week break from coaching and swimming, which is great for not having to be in a particular place at a particular time and DD1 definitely needed a bit of rest after the last few months, although it isn't as good in practice as theory. ND DD1 is struggling without the routine and physical outlet, causing her sleep and behaviour to go to pot. DD2 is doing better, thankfully, but there is also a noticeable dip in her behaviour without the routine and exercise. 6 days into the 'break' and they've already been for an aqua inflatables session, and I think we might go for a LC lane swim tomorrow morning to get some wriggles out. We can all just have a nice gentle plod.
There is usually one fairly tough session halfway through the break just to keep them ticking over, but this year it is just the 2 squads above DD1's.

We are back 6am Monday morning but I’ve enjoyed 4 days off.

Except ds and I went for a swim today - it’s good physio for him! It was afternoon though!

itsgettingweird · 27/12/2025 19:04

wombat We had/ have 4 days off and that feels like loads.

totally agree with how it helps with the ND. My ds thrives off routine but also swimming is good physio for him - hence why we went for a plod today.

However his plod is still faster than most people’s 🤣

Glittertwins · 27/12/2025 19:16

We’ll have had 4 days off too.

OP posts:
SkankingWombat · 27/12/2025 21:24

Yes, DCs always find it very amusing when their plod speed is faster than most of the adults in the pool despite the considerable size difference 😬 Unfortunately they also get very frustrated that nobody 'knows the rules' and moves over when toe tapped, hence going to The Big Pool for our lane swim; it's always fairly quiet, but the length and width of the lanes means nobody is ever in anyone else's way. Plus it's clean, cheaper than the nearest leisure centre, and they don't get sniffy if you want to use fins!

Glittertwins · 28/12/2025 09:10

It’s more the lane discipline and people pushing off (glacial speed) as I’m coming up to turn that annoys me in public sessions. DH reported that this week was quite special in that regard too.
