Nicpem1982 · 06/01/2018 19:35

My dd is due to be in a dance show, we've been given her list re hair etc for the show and there's make up on there this year which is not a problem just new.

So what brand is best it needs to be bright and long lasting

Blue eyeshadow
Blue liquid liner
Red lipstick
Red lip liner

Thanks in advance

It's compulsory at ours, as are the costumes, but that's made clear before you sign up and no one has to do the show, which is in a full sized theatre with a hundred plus dancers. It's just part of making the dancers look matched on stage, hair, costumes, shoes and make-up are the same for all as far as possible. Partly to give a professional apearance, partly to prepare the dancers for what it would be like in a professional shower, partly in the spirit of teamwork. If you let individuals pick and choose whether to wear the make-up (other than on medical grounds) then what's next, not wanting to wear the costumes because they are too revealing, or the shoes too high?

Lol whoonows

It's a dance show with children in it not the Bolshoi. Whatever next, well if my 3yo child was excluded from a show for not wearing lippy a new and more sensible dance school..... I also am Confused about the high heels/ revealing clothes comment, they perform in dance shoes and outfits covering a lot more than normal leotards ime, not sure what sort of dance school you are talking about Hmm

I'm talking about a dance show with performers aged 3 to 18 from a well regarded school who regularly see their seniors become dance professionals.

then what's next, not wanting to wear the costumes because they are too revealing, or the shoes too high?

So we're talking about 3 year olds in high heels, is that right?

How do children do ballet in high heels?

BishopBrennansArse · 26/01/2018 09:50

No, heels aren't generally used for ballet.
Other forms of dance perhaps, but that's not for toddler groups.
I find it seriously disturbing here that some posters are deliberate trying to see sexual intent towards toddlers. It's gross.

Am I the only person who uses my own make up (obv new sponges etc) for my DSes? Grin

maximu · 26/01/2018 09:57

I haven't said anything about sexual intent.
