In my head I am still a pert 34C but sadly the reality is that post kids I am a hefty 34-36E. Am breastfeeding. Please recommend a decent bra as I have started running and the one I currently wear (over head type by M+S) is not quite cutting it. TIA

Have a look on Less Bounce which gives great advice, and I like the real women featured in her catalogue.

I am about a 34DD at the moment and still breastfeeding (was bigger when ds3 younger). I have a few different brands of exercise bras but my favourites are the ShockAbsorbers. You'll see lots of positive comments about them on the website and it appears they've brought out a new bra specifically for running.

One particular advantage of the ones I have is that they pull over the head but then have little clips at the side so i can breastfeed ds3 without having to yank the whole thing up iyswim. But I'm not sure if those models are made any more, as all the ShockAbsorbers on the Less Bounce website seem to have back fastenings.

Shock absorber, I am a 36-38DD
I got 2 for £35 in Debenhams recently.

M&S do a really good underwired sports bra (i am a 34F). What you need to do for running is 'double-bagging'....i.e wear sports bra hten a second crop top type bra over the top....nothing moves then!

All of my large norkage friends do this...i have even heard tell of a girl who triple-bags !

ladylush · 16/04/2010 17:06

Thanks for all replies
Lol at doublebagging Think it'll make me extra sweaty though.
Will have a look at the shock absorbers.

Thanks for this. Reminded me I need a sports bra. I did my training in no bra this morning .

I'm 36E and would prefer to buy from M&S if anyone can recommend a style.

ladylush · 17/04/2010 12:07

Fab the over the head one I've got from Marks is ok but I do still get some movement and it's a bit of a hassle as I am bf but you could try it on and jump up and down in the changing room to see if there's enough support

I was wearing a normal bra this morning and I need a better one for running. DH did hold my breasts for a bit but it didn't really work.

AnnDaloozier · 17/04/2010 15:07

shocloabsorber are best -t he really hefty ones
give you tits like cones but hey

AnnDaloozier · 17/04/2010 15:07

the Marks one si shit - hence the stupid triple bag idea
buy a proper one

ladylush · 17/04/2010 21:51

ok gonna try the shock absorber tomorrow. Bit wary of cone shaped tits. Isn't it bad enough that they are huge without being cone shaped as well

I've just bought the new Shock Absorber Running sports bra and it's fab. And I can report, no cones in sight! The new style looks more like a crop-top from the front so no wierd shapes going on. If you're ordering online though, I would go up a chest size as they do tend to come up small IME. I'm a 34D but need a 36D. It felt a little snug when I tried it on but I went for my first run in it at the weekend and it was v comfortable - ain't nothing moving down there!!

ladylush · 19/04/2010 22:45

Thanks Lola - sounds very promising Regrettably I didn't make it to the shops at the weekend but will do so this week. Thanks for the tip about going up a back size.

They haven't got the new Shockabsorber running bra in my local dept. store - just the older version. I tried it on anyway but it didn't give me enough support - was worse imo than the M+S one.

I always order online as I can try stuff on at your leisure and send it back if no good. The staff at Less Bounce are great and I promise, I don't work for them!

LolaLadybird · 24/04/2010 21:29

Figleaves.com v good for bra shopping - good website and free returns so you can order plenty of sizes and choice (and I don't work for them either!). They stock the new Shockabsorber as I only bought mine from them a couple of weeks ago.

EricPicklesFatNeck · 24/04/2010 21:32

enell are teh ultimate big boob running bra

mmrsceptic · 24/04/2010 21:36

hi, i recommend two bras when running, regular and sports "crop" bra

makes a huge (lol) difference

gemmummy · 24/04/2010 21:36

I'm a 34 J and have always struggled, I have to wear two bras to train in. The sports bra i use is from bravissimo, it's the only one they do in that size but I can't recommend it highly enough, I wear it over a normal bra and feel well supported.

LolaLadybird · 24/04/2010 21:41

I tried on the enell bra and it didn't work for me (may well have had the wrong size) but it had really +ve feedback on the Figleaves website.

GoldenSnitch · 24/04/2010 21:49

I'm a 30GG and got my sports bras from Bravissmo. I think it's a shock absorber but they do a few styles so you can choose one that fits well.

marriednotdead · 24/04/2010 21:50

The Royce one is great- I wear it in a 32G and my boobs don't move. You may need to try on several to get the perfect fit- tighter is better as long as you can breathe!. Gemmummy- there's an Elomi wired one that my curvy friend says is brilliant. You may need a bigger back as it's tight so try a 36HH. Seen it on lessbounce.

ladylush · 25/04/2010 15:21

I really want to avoid wearing two bras if possible. I guess I just need to try a range as it seems not everyone gets on with the shock absorber. Thanks for all your suggestions
